My quest to loose weight.
« on: October 07, 2009, 09:04:25 am »
Hi everyone,

I am currently overweight but i have made a few key decisions and have made it my goal to lose some weight.  So far in the last
6 weeks I have lost 20 lbs.  I would like to keep you all updated.  My goal is to loose another 50 to 60 lbs.  I could use some healthy
and easy to fix simple recipes.  Any ideas as to where I can find them.

Lots of good healthy eating sites. I don't know your health condition BUT if you check with your Dr. and can stand it ( My Mom did this and lost 25 lbs. ) search Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar. Great tips and recipes.

I want to be right on the line of being healthy but not underweight and I am 5'4" so that would be 115 lbs

I want to loose between 50-60 lbs

I have made some diet changes like healthy foods and not so much junk food

115 at 5'4"??? Wow. I'm 5'0" and wear a size 2 and am around 120 pounds. I could not imagine being 4 inches taller and weighing less. That is TINY.

I used to be overweight (maxed out around 160 pounds). I lost about 40 pounds in about 5 months with diet and exercise. Easiest diet changes for me was eliminating most dairy, sugar, alcohol. Exercise? I used a stair climber at home and pilates videos. After 4 months I joined a gym. 5.5 years later, I've since had a child, I still belong to my gym, and I still maintain my weight loss.

It is a life style change. Remember that.

:) If you want to shed those extra pounds, do not forget: No alcohol, no junk food, steam or bake your food-no deep frying...too much grease, exercise...walk, drink plenty of fluids to flush body toxins, design a reasonable diet for yourself. This also worked for me- 'shed some extra body fluids'. I used Diurex- a diuretic sold at Walmart...I lost about 15 pounds- it work wonders for me.

Cut out as much 'processed' food as possible.  Buy fresh!

i'm also trying to lose weight, but i'm trying not
to call it a "diet" ... otherwise i tend to feel
restricted or like i'm depriving myself. if i try to
look at it in a different light (like a challenge for
getting back into my favorite jeans, etc) i'm more
likely to follow through.

i've been drinking this:

which contains no high fructose corn syrup, unlike
the other teas that its placed with in the grocery store,
and it seems to be flushing me out or detoxing the
bowels and i can definitely tell a difference.

not to be gross  :)

i'm not relying solely on that, but i've replaced most
of the pop/sugary stuff i normally drink with this...
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I am also on a quest to lose weight. I go to a doctor at FIGURE WEIGHT LOSS and he gives you a calorie count and some fat burning pills that are great!!! They are $100 for a 30 day supply but in 7 days I have lost 10 pounds and my father has lost 60 pounds in 2 months. So if you have one of these facilties around then I would highly recommend it!!

Veganism is very unhealthy. You need omega 3 and complete proteins, and you get pretty much none with veganism.
Any nutritionist will tell you this.

To everyone else, congratulations on your weight loss.

Thanks everyone for the advice.  Tomorrow is my weigh in day.  So far I know I've lost inches off my butt cause my pants drag the ground now, some even go under my foot and are too long now.  I will soon need to buy a few new clothes or take a chance at walking around n my pants fall down.  I have been eating mainly protein and vegetables.  Sticking with the proper serving size and only eating 3 meals a day.  I dont have a regular exercising program but my job is physical and requires me to walk too.  The only thing I need to do is exercise on my days off.  I'll be back tomorrow with my progress.
