Do you avoid...
« on: January 22, 2019, 05:19:16 am »
I don't know about in anyone else's area but in mine the flu is suppose to be really bad right now.  In my current situation I am not where I see this but from what other people are saying it is bad in my area.

Does something like this make you avoid eating out or even going to places like Walmart as much?

Because people DO go in to work sick. Even if they work in food.  Most times they do not have a choice.  You either go in or you get fired.  And not everyone can afford to go to the doctor esp if they work a min wage job and part time hours.  Even full time if you do not have ins one trip to the doctor can take an entire pay check.

Having ask this...  I have to admit I have started to stop by McDonald's a couple of times and grab something while on my way to somewhere else and then decided not to because so many people are sick.  Even people who are fixing your food.

It is bad in my area, but just wash your hands all the time or use hand sanitizer.  We don't eat out much so we have been pretty good so far.

Washing your hands does not prevent the flu.  The same with the common cold.  It is airborne. You have idiots coughing all over the place and most of them do not cover their mouth.  I have never had the flu but I do try to avoid public places all I can right now.  And stay away from people all I can.  Because the ones who are sick even if they can will not stay at home.  There was a woman locally who had TB and she was suppose to be staying at home and she refused.  They ended up putting her in the hospital and stationing a cop outside her door (24x7) so she could not leave.

I try to be careful with handwashing and avoiding close contact (not sure if it helps or not) but I do not avoid going to stores and such.

Not exactly sure you can avoid going out to prevent yourself from getting sick because sometimes you have no choice because something happens or comes up and you see yourself going out and even if you take precautionary measures to where you don't get sick it's not 99% that you will or you won't.. Even then sometimes people don't even show signs that they are sick right away so how can you even prepare for that??Then you have people who are prone to sickness so if they even hear about sickness they are going to get sick without even going outside..  sickness usually finds it's way around one way or another..

I always wash my hands several times throughout the day. whether the Flu is bad or not. It is difficult not to go to places because someone may have the flu because someone with the Flu can be anywhere.

Yes, washing hands is one of the best ways to keep well.  As has been said here people are coughing and sneezing everywhere which leaves germs on handles,  doorknobs and any surfaces, etc.  They get there by being airborne.  You touch a doorknob with germs and then if you have not washed your hands you touch your face and they germs get into your system..

Nope. I'm not going to live my life worried about every little thing. I see what it has done to my mom's health. My husband just got over a mild cold, and I didn't even catch it. Eat healthy, exercise often, don't stress = good immune system.

I avoid people, in general.  I don't worry too much catching something.

I avoid overcrowded places because those are the places where
infected people usually reside.

I try to avoid people but at work it's hard because I deal with hundreds of people a day. I try to wash my hands often and try to be as healthy as I can with keeping my immune system healthy.  When I see people cough around me and they don't cover their mouth I try to cover my nose and mouth.

It is not possible to hear that people are getting a cold or the flu and then you get sick because you hear someone talking about it.  You have to come in to contact with the germs.

I didn't say hole up and not go out in public.  I asked to you avoid things like eating out.  You do not have to eat out.  You choose to eat out.  Do you avoid eating out right now, in times when it seems everyone is sick?  That was the question.

No, you cannot help but come in to contact with other people.  Unless you have no family and have income that gets deposited into your bank account and you order everything online and you do not have to ever see another living soul.

I don't think it's terrible in my area but there's not much you can do to avoid it. Just live your life and try to be careful about washing your hands. I just caught a cold though so what do I know!
