9 times out of 10 the police will say we don't get involved in that. I really think the police are there just there too keep the idea of order so everyone will just follow it.

Many people have been false claiming action on Americans. How do you feel about calling the police on someone just because?

I have had the police called on me and false accusations were made.  The person claimed they SAW me do something.  The police quickly confirmed the 911 call was false.  I asked for the callers name but he would not tell me.  Honestly, I think in cases like that the person who was called on should get the name and phone number of the caller.  I also think if I had plenty of money and wanted to take it to court they would have no other choice than to provide the callers name.  They people who do this should be charged with making a false 911 call and either be jailed for 30 days or pay a fine.

People calling 911 and telling false things have gotten innocent people shot.

At the same time I and my friends cooperated with the officer.  We gave him ID when he asked.  We stood there without arguing when he ran us all for warrants.

Cops have no obligation to protect you.   The "Protect and Serve"  written on their cruisers is just another empty slogan.
I don't call the cops for any reason.

Yes they do.  They take an oath.  It is more than just a slogan on their cars.

'Just because'-what is that?  There are a lot of stupid people out there and the Police Department frowns  on such prank usage of the 911 calls.

Just because means just that.  Just because.  This car is speeding.  Or I think this person is drunk.  Usually those calls come after somebody gets mad because somebody is driving too slow in front of them.

Or if a car is driving slow thru a neighborhood and some idiot calls and says they are looking for some where to break in.  Or if a car is parked in a parking lot when a business is closed and some idiot calls and says they saw the person break in to the business.  The police are too trigger happy any way.  They show up guns drawn, screaming at some unsuspecting person and some innocent person dies when they were doing nothing wrong.

I have never heard of a cop saying we don't get involved in that.  There are things they cannot do anything about. Like when 2 people are fighting and they both live at the residence.  They will try to diffuse it and get one to leave and tell them what they need to do if one wants the other removed from the property.

I think it is ridiculous and a waste of time on people with real emergencies.

i don't think anyone should be calling the police , just because they feel like calling the police on someone . There has to be a reason and real , life  situation , the police is not a playground area for kids. real life situation that should only be for something real. they should be out doing crime and they have not time for games.. think before you called the police .

I'm pretty sure if you call for them, they need to know the nature of your call. I've seen on the news some pretty darn lame excuses for calling the cops, and I guess if they aren't busy, they might show up just for something to do or to satisfy their curiosity. Personally, I don't care for most cops anymore, there's too many obnoxious, mean, and trigger happy ones, so I'd never call for one unless it was a dire situation. I don't want them anywhere near me. Had one follow me around town for awhile because he was mad that the ticket he gave me didn't stick, so he tried to catch me doing something wrong. He got nothing. :)

the police don't take prank called , there a consequence and different action taken upon these people that do these kinds of things . different state have laws about this , more and more people are doing this and think its funny .. the police don't find them funny , this is people lives , you could face jail time .  :(

I do not click on links. But yes they DO take an oath.  I have friends who are police officers and when they are sworn in they DO take an oath.

Taking an oath mean nothing.  It's not what you say that counts, but what you do.

The link takes you to an article that tells you that the police went to court to prove that they have no obligation to protect anyone.

Its a waste if your calling just because you want to be dumb and waste their time on something that isnt even important or life threatening in any way.  Maybe you want someone off your property go ahead, something stolen okay but just to call when they can be helping someone in need isnt right.
