There is no hope ...
« on: January 09, 2019, 11:49:54 am »
Every time I hear something or see something outrageous and think people can not get any more insane - I see something like this:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/brides-aggressive-save-date-wedding-demands-spark-fury-152136959.html

I think some of these bride to be people need locked up in a padded cell.  smh

First off, I am glad no one in my family or circle of friends would every do this.  And second, if they did...I would just not respond at all.  I would not even RSVP to say no.

lol Ikr  I have seen some ridiculous requests like the one who asked people to lose weight or had to wear a high priced outfit or not attend or the one who asked for $5000 per quest to fund her wedding. smh But this I swear has to be the most horrible of them all.

I want to ask what is wrong with people - but then I look at the world around me - and the way kids are being raised with the entitled everybody gets a trophy attitude and I completely understand where it comes from.

i honestly don't understand some people today.  When I got married i just asked people to show up.  We had a nice church wedding and a reception in a hotel ballroom.  No one had to fly anyplace, the most someone had to drive was 2 hours and that was his aunt and uncle.  As far as gifts, yes we got nice ones but most were not over the top and we didn't care.  All we wanted was our family and friends to show up, watch us marry, and have a good time.  Today it's all about money and trying to top someone else with bigger and better.

In her (slight) defense, the invitation is informative, but who the h--l would wanna do that? LOL. She can't even tell you which country her wedding is going to be in? If I got a letter like that, I'd rip it up and throw it in the trash.

I didn't read that RSVP as aggressive. I mean there's a large warning at the top that's saying, hey consider all these expenses and time commitments before you say yes. She's kind of offering it up as a 2-in-1 wedding/vacation for her guests. It doesn't sound demanding to me. It's actually very informative.

Exactly.  I have family a few hours away and they would come to anything important.  I am not sure even in today's greedy world that IF I done an online registry I would put anything really expensive on it.  You are right too many want bigger and better than everyone else.  As long as I have what "I" need I am good.

Maybe rip it up and mail the RSPV in tiny little pieces back to her. HA

First thing that bothered me was the grammar and spelling errors. If you're going to put this much ?thought? into your demanding Save the Date announcements, run it through a spell check and triple proof read it! And if you are too dumb/careless to not know the difference between to and too; your and you're; or there, their, and they're - then ask an adult who DOES know!  If you are dictating to me how much money I need to spend and how much time I need to take off to share your special day, you could at least put some minimal effort into doing/saying it right.

Or better yet, respond with a positive attendance when you really have no intention of going (and convince some of your friends to do the same).

Interesting. I would never ask my family and friends to travel that far and spend that much money attending my wedding.  Rude and selfish.

Well she did leave it at an option.  and she did list all the obstacles to consider before saying yes.....so I don't think anything is wrong with it....she not demanding anyone show up.

She has hit the koo-koo list, that's totally ridiculous, who in their right mind is going to agree to that list of demands, or that kind of money, if someone did agree to that, then they need their heads examined too.

Well there is an idea.  And it should not really matter because she is not paying for any of it.
