« on: January 05, 2019, 10:15:57 am »
Anyone else with windows get message about virus, malware and to download wintonic?  I'm activating it because it looks like it came from microsoft and online reviews seemed good.  Want to make sure I didn't make mistake downloading it.

If you Google "wintonic", you get a whole bunch of results explaining how to remove it. Sounds like malware. Once you install it, it may lock your computer up unless you pay them. I wouldn't do it.

Sorry that I did it now.  Before it all completes, going to try to uninstall it.

I googled and did the appwiz.cpl  uninstall but then it says to do do this :ESET Rogue Applications Remover .  However, I'm stopping with just removing it.

Not sure if you have any antivirus or antimalware on your pc, but you may want to run something like Bitdefender or AVG antivirus to make sure it's gone.

If you have already downloaded it then it is too late. You should not have done it though. Anything like that you should contact windows. Or whoever the actual company is.  If it came thru an email you can hover over the part where the email came from and it will show you the actual email address it came from. I have got stuff like that  before and I report it as SPAM and do not open it or click on any links.  :(

People are stupid and will do anything to scam people.

What version of windows are you using?  You need to go to add/remove programs and remove the "wintonic" and then you need to run you virus protection and do a scan on your computer.

I ignore every thing that pops up like that.  Had a problem with something like that years ago took along time to get it off my computer.

I uninstalled and am going to leave it at that.  Hate the popups.

I had that pop up on me today when I was clicking on this site.  I ignored it and shut it down.
Have a wonderful day!

I ignore them also.  Always worried it do something to my laptop and will not work correctly again.  I have tried to close them but if that doesn't work I shut it down
