I see more and more where people tend to start something with employees in customer service or just people they meet on the street in general and they are quick to flick out a phone and start videoing.  I am curious as to how people would respond.

If someone was videoing you in public and you knew it (no matter what the circumstances) how would you respond....

Would you confront them?
Walk away?
Yank your own camera out and start videoing them?

I was in a neighboring town a couple years ago walking thru the parking lot and I know a man was taking my picture.  I have been told by a cop "when you are in public you have no expectations to privacy" so in other words you cannot stop people from taking your picture or videoing you.

But my question is if someone is talking to you in any manner and they start videoing how would you react.

If I see someone video taping me or a child I would ask them not too, even though its their phone, they can do what they want without my permission, but its not right, there are just a lot of weirdos out there.

True you cannot stop them.  I would either start videoing them as well or leave the area.  I am more kind of asking along the lines of people who are trying to start something like the ones where they are videoing and THEY are trying to start a fight.

Like the woman who confronted another woman she didn't know because she accused her of being a bigot toward somebody else SHE didn't know.  And starts jumping on her and videoing.  You shove your phone in my face I will slap it out and across the ground.  I can understand why people react violently the way they do at times.  People are bullies (and the woman videoing was a bully) and push people too far.

There just seem to be more and more videos all over the internet basically trying to shame people.  And if you are in a viral video you can bet unless you own your own business you will lose your job because then people start screaming boycott the business.  I guess I just cannot grasp how evil people have become. It is like their sole purpose for every day is whose life can I ruin today?

But you are correct it is not right that people can video you or take your picture and there is nothing you can do about it.  I do not care if I am in public.  If it is ME you are taking pictures of I should have a right to say something about it.

I would continue on my way because a lot of nut cases are out here and I try to carry myself properly at all times.  Some of those videos may have something helpful in the background for law enforcement. If your're out in public everyone is fair game, so they can do away with the privacy act.

I would probably just continue on my way and ignore them.  I wouldn't want to risk escalating the situation...these days you don't know what some people will do or how far they would go.  Hopefully I will never experience this situation.

I would definitely whip out my phone and take a photo of the person photographing me. Then go on my merry way. Then you have a record of the person in case anything comes of it.

I am like you bragging I would take his picture, but then i  would have given him the finger, sorry but I  have a little bit of a temper once in a while.  and they have  no business taping me. I  don't them. Of course at my age most  people would not want to tape me.

LOL You CANNOT make them stop taping. If you are in public you have no rights to privacy.  You can confront them but if you already have the attitude you are going to MAKE them stop taping then you likely would be one of the viral videos we see with people insane fighting.  Besides that just because they are holding a phone up does not mean they are taping.

I will admit I done it once.  I was at a grade school ball game and the coach from the opposing team with physco crazy screaming at the ref and the entire area was quite except for his screaming rant.  I am sure I am not the only one who videoed it.  I think I deleted it later but in case it was needed yep I taped it. lol

lol.  That cracked me up.  If I thought they were taking my picture I would def take their pic as well but of course you know they are going to get mad and confront you when you do.  You have to be careful.  People are just evil anymore.

Well the only time that I know of that this happened to me and others around me was in a customer service training class & the guy was doing it very secretively and discreetly but I told the instructor once I realized what he was doing and she took action.  It still creeps me out when I think about it because I still wonder why he did this and what was going to be done for with it.

I hope something like that does not happen to me because I hate taking pictures or being on video so I know it would make me upset. I would tell them to stop filming me immediately.

I would hope this never happens to me but I would turn my back and walk away.  If you are not doing anything wrong there is no reason to be video taped.

I think if they stick the phone in your face you have the right to slap it out of your face and I probably would do that. lol  And you should be able to tell on the video on the broken phone they put it up in your face.
