Gift for your boss
« on: December 19, 2018, 03:55:00 am »
Are you or a group of your co-workers chipping in and buying your boss a xmas gift this year? We are doing that where I work. My boss has helped me a lot and still helping me on a daily basis with all the information I have to know to do my job and she is very pleasant and patient with me, so I really appreciate that.

A few of us chipped in and got our boss and his wife a gift certificate to a restaurant that they like and also a really cuts ornament for their tree with all our names on it with the year.

Well when I was working especially when I was young and struggling to buy two young boys anything for Christmas it infuriated me to be asked to pitch in to buy someone a present that made way more money than me.  If that makes me sound like a grinch then so be it.  A nice card with a handwritten message to thank a boss for their help and etc I think is suffiicient just my opinion.

Actually I have been my own boss for over 40 years and I buy myself gifts all the time. Yesterday I just bought me a new printer when the old one took a dump. To take it to the repair shop it was $85 to walk in the door, plus parts and labor to fix a 7 year old machine, so I bought a new one for $106 with a year warranty.

No, we don't chip in to get the boss anything.  I usually fix candy for all of my co-workers and my boss.
Have a wonderful day!

I recently worked on a job where they were taking up money for something every freakin week.  Or asking everyone to bring a dessert or dish or finger food for something.  Enough is enough. I don't usually chip in for gifts.

Others feel the same way.

I am more in to go to work, do my job, come home.

When I had good paying jobs, I was far more likely to consider gifts for the boss. That hasn't happened for a while now.  :-[

And I don't remember ever chipping in on boss's gifts; just flower funds and such.

I didn't buy the boss anything this year, but when you have a great one, yeah it is worth doing just to let them know you appreciate everything.

I have a long distance boss whom I have never met. We communicate through texting and email. I did wish her a Merry Christmas.

No, we don't. Our boss is the one who gave us gift. We just greet her and give a hug.

The thing with chipping in is who ever is taking up the money ends up with a lot of pocket cash left over.

I do not figure I owe my boss a gift.  They do not purchase gifts for all of us.

I believe you should buy for the people who work for you as a thank you for the previous year.  I hope they do not get me anything and I usually don’t for my boss.

:menorah:   :santa:   :snowflake:  Most years in the past I would give a card to the boss, just something I would do as a thanks. This year I gave more than a card, I got a few small gifts as of course my boss is pretty cool.  :menorah: :santa: :snowflake:
