Away From Home
« on: December 17, 2018, 05:39:35 am »
Has anyone tried using their laptop to do FC when away from home using a different IP address? I was going to take my laptop to another state for the Holidays and was wondering if it would be an issue?

I think someone said once that you could only use it from your ISP or risk suspension.

Yes, I looked in the Terms of Service: Users must log in and use FC on their own personal computer and internet connection only.

If you leave your home computer running remote access software (such as Team Viewer free version), you can logon with your laptop from anywhere that has Internet and run it just like you were there. I have done this from Alaska and London with no problems.

Is there anything you don't know, oldbuddy. You astound me.  :notworthy:

I'm sure there is more that I don't know than there is that I do, but I appreciate the compliment.

That's what I was afraid of. Glad I asked. Problem is, doing surveys is part of my morning routine. I do remember though, I started doing them in Atlanta Ga when staying at my sons for a few months, then continued doing them when I moved to Florida. Never got locked out?

That does NOT mean you won't next time, you just got lucky and admin didn't notice. Believe me, it can happen.

I once had a survey ask if I was sure about my zip code because something about my IP address didn't match or some other technical term. I was in college at the time and was using my home zip code because that is my legal place of residence. But I had never had an issue switching between college and my home using the same laptop. Hopefully I won't have an issue when I get a new one in the next few years.

According to the rules, this is a violation. It's the IP address that matters and it will change no matter what computer you use.

I have to plan my FC sessions around my trips.  We are out of town frequently, so I double up on my efforts to meet my cash out, while I am still at home.  If I'm gone for many days, I have to be okay with taking two months to cash out, but I try hard not to let that happen.
