The Haunting of Hill House
« on: December 15, 2018, 12:24:02 pm »
Please do not post spoilers for those who have not seen this series yet.

This series is awesomely scary but not gory. It had me jumping more than once.

I LOVE the song from the soundtrack called "Heavenly Day" from Patty Griffin.

Go to YouTube and listen. It is so beautiful that it may make you cry though.

I just watched her perform this live and admit that this was her first love song, and she wrote it for her dog!

How cute is that?

God, I LOVE those songs that get way down in your bones . . .

:menorah:   :santa:   :snowflake: I cannot give you a spoiler yet, cause I haven't seen this series yet.  ;D  I might have to watch it cause I tend to like scary shows or movies. Most of them don't even scare me though!  :menorah:   :santa:   :snowflake:

Yes there is a movie.  There is a older book by Shirley Jackson,  but I don't know how closely either resemble the book because I never read the book.  8)

Yes, I know about it being based on Shirley Jackson's work. That woman's books and stories creep me out (in a good way).

countrygirl12, I think you'd like this. It's scary but not gory.

But if you don't listen to the Heavenly Day song guys, you are missing out. It's the song that is playing as Arthur and Nellie dance at their wedding.

It's so beautiful, it makes you cry.

Marduk:

You are thinking of The Legend of Hill House with Roddy McDowell.

I just finished watching this Netflix series & plan to watch it again... knowing what is revealed towards the end, I need to watch it again.   It was surprisingly very good, scary & well-written.  I thought they sort of phoned it in at the end would be my only minor complaint.  Definitely worth a watch :)

Idk, I am not into scary at all. haha.  I will google it and read a little about it.  Kind of scary theme is okay sometimes.

countrygirl: There is the physical scary, and then there is the scary that gets insides your head.

This is the head kind. It stays with you.

rgh: Let me know if you watch the show, I'd like your thoughts on the book vs. the show.

I will read the book soon.
