Should I throw my boyfriend a party for his 51st Birthday?

What would he want? I am not into big parties at age fifty five so I would say pass, especially if my wife suffered from social anxiety. I would prefer to be with the woman I love, having a nice dinner, a few glasses of wine, and a movie or two followed by some heavy duty snuggling.If he is into parties than I would call all of his friends and try to deal with the anxiety for an hour or two and then politely excuse myself. Warn him ahead of time. I am sure that he will want to show you off to all of his friends but is also cognizant of your anxiety and would understand your early exit. Nobody knows your situation better than you and life is too short to waste a single second in misery. Best of luck to you and Thanks for the post!

If you are not comfortable around people and his family, throw the party for 2.  Be as romantic as you can on his Born day.  He will like it.

What does your anxiety have to do with planning a party?  Would you not show up?  Why did you even suggest to throw him one?
