Norovirus
« on: November 25, 2018, 08:27:42 am »
Nasty stuff - son works at an Assisted living facility and came down with what the hospital thinks is Norovirus.  He is only in his early 30's and had to be admitted.  Now I just read on news on my phone that a University of Maryland student died from what they believe is the Norovirus.  Be wary and here is hoping we will all be safe from viruses like this.

Oh my, I certainly hope your son will overcome this. I have never heard of it. Is there some kind of shots he would receive to prevent such ailments. Working in an assisted living facility I am sure he comes into contact with many ailments.

Sorry to hear that, I pray your son will recover quickly!

We all should remember to be extra careful to wash our hands. My grandma told me she often went years at a time without getting a flu or cold because she made such a point to wash her hands the second she got home from anywhere.

Never heard of that kind of virus, is it just for people in nursing facilities.

"Norovirus outbreaks are common. This is because the virus spreads very easily and quickly from infected people to others, and through contaminated foods and surfaces. Outbreaks happen throughout the year, but they occur most often from November to April.

Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. Anyone can get infected and sick with norovirus. You can get norovirus from:

Having direct contact with an infected person
Consuming contaminated food or water
Touching contaminated surfaces then putting your unwashed hands in your mouth"

This was taken from CDC website, FYI.

It is  something I would not wish on my worst enemy . I have had it for over 3 weeks, no longer  infected but the aftereffects just keep lingering on and your tired all the time. Just when I think the cough is gone here it comes again. Have no idea where I caught it, but  would think down at the ministry where I volunteer. Y you never know  what they will bring in. Think god I have  had my  shot peneumiona ( heck can't spell today) .
