Anxiety surrounding the coming weeks
« on: November 01, 2018, 10:20:42 am »
Anyone else have anxiety about the upcoming holidays? Those who have kept up with my posts know I have an anxiety disorder. I'm going to be spending Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years with my boyfriend's family and I'm scared to death about it. My boyfriend has plans to move in with me in March. If he doesn't, I'm going to let him go, even though my family loved him. It's just too much stress, and a part of me thinks I don't even really want a boyfriend. I'm not a very social person so it wouldn't be the end of the world. Just have to make it through the upcoming holidays. I'm ready for it all to be over.

You need to show him this post.  Stress and anxiety are not good for you and can lead to health issues.  Try to enjoy the moment and always remember someone is worst off than you.  Think positive and find the good in everything.

Easier said than done, but I can show him this post. I've had stress and anxiety for most of my life so I'm not really expecting it to get better anytime soon.

Just relax and go with the flow. If they don't like you for who you are then they weren't worth the time.

If you want to break up with him then I'm not sure how him moving in with you will make things better.

Holidays don't stress me out because I don't celebrate it's just another day to me.  I don't make a big deal about any of them.

The holidays do bring on a bit of stress and anxiety. Try and enjoy it the best you can; maybe try Yoga for a method to deal with it.

Try to go and enjoy yourself and be yourself.  If you know you will be stressed and uncomfortable and don't want to go then don't.  You said you have family then spend it with them.   I don't get why your boyfriend is going to move in with you in 4 months, but you are not sure if you even want him.  My advice is don t let him move in unless you want him as a boyfriend if not that will just cause you more stress    Good luck and keep us posted.

Nothing  to stress about right now, it was, but not now, prayed and God worked things out for us.

Well I have sadness more than anxiety but some of that too. I have very little family left and both my sons work at jobs they have to work holidays on.  Used to have fun big holidays but no more.  Well I feel for you and I understand everything you said - since my husband died I go back and forth between being lonely and wondering if I am not ok with it.  I hope it all works out for you for the best - Take care !

I know. I'm just always under stress anymore. Him moving in would make things better because I'd grow more comfortable around him and enjoy his company more. I'm just scared about seeing his family. Scared I'll say/do something stupid and I will completely ruin the relationship. But the other side of the coin is that it could be a blessing in disguise if I get this nervous around him. I swear to never date again if this relationship doesn't work out. It's just too stressful for me and I'm at a point in my life where I'm starting to see that I need to put myself first.

I really love the holiday season but I understand where you're coming from. It can be stressful and anxiety inducing at times.

You may  want to see a doctor about your anxiety. Could give yo7 medicine  to help you through. I get anxious also sometimes take 1 benadryl. It calms you down anymore might make you to sleepy.  I worry about buying presents  the price and what people want or need.
