We have 5 deer that have been coming into our yard all summer.  One is a mom and 2 young ones. I think mom was part of the 2 young ones from last year. This was the first year we've had deer in our yard.  It was nice seeing them every day eating our weeds. Less we had to do. LOL This week, hubby was going to the store and saw one of them dead on the side of the highway. That's sad but it happens every year when the deer are in rut.

Always be on the lookup and try not to get distracted while driving.

We do have some deer around where I live.  I am always scared one is going to run out in front of me when I'm driving.  I did know an elderly couple who use to live in an area that deer were really bad.  They had something on their bumper that would alert them if there were any around.

I see deer all the time when I'm driving.  I've had a few close calls but I've never hit one.  The best way to avoid them is to stay straight and steady.  There are more wrecks from people trying to avoid them than there are from people hitting them.  Plus, your car will handle hitting them better this way.

I used to live out in the country and deer crossing the road was a definite problem and fox and bears - but didn't know how to avoid was just lucky I guess -  that thing the one reader put about a thing that emits a noise that deters them might be worth a try.

Pay careful attention when you are driving. If you find a deer is standing in the road in front of you, try flashing your brights. It might be enough motivation for it to move on.

I say just drive slow and stay alert and aware of your surroundings.

Um, drive slowly. Or, if possible, take an alternate route that does not have a lot of deer present.

when we stayed in the country, they always came in the yard, just walking in the yard like they home.

I was just reading about an attachment that you can attach to your car that gives off a high frequency sound that acts as a deer repellent -- I don't know how well it works, but I use a similar type one on the dog next door to keep it from barking & it always goes back in the house when I turn it on... but i'm not coming at it in a moving vehicle.

^^^^This^^^^

Very simple attachment that you can put on your grille or front spoiler. They are small plastic devices that work as the wind passes through them, so your own driving speed is what activates them. You hear nothing and with the right placement you see nothing.

I had some years ago and never had any encounters with deer on the roadways while several friends and family members driving the same roads did. Could just be coincidence, but for a few dollars it wasn't a waste of money.

If you use them, don't expect to see a "reaction" from deer affected by them. Deer aren't going to approach your car, hear the repellent, and run off. If working properly - they simply won't approach at all.

I hate to tell you, but that is about the worst advice I have heard yet. Flashing lights will freeze them in their tracks, car horns will be ignored and you usually don't have that long anyway.
