filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy. To bad I liked to shop at sears for some things. Bought our washing machine about 6yrs ago and it works fine. Will maybe look to  see what they have and the prices. I suppose this is the way with many stores  now with the monster amazon.Still like to walk in a store  in a wheelchair but you get the idea. Fun to touch things and just look.

I have not shopped at sears for a long time. Kmart and Sears are closing a lot more stores than ever.

I shopped at Sears for years and I got my first washing machine from them back in the early 90's.

I'm sad to see  that Sears is closing.  My mom worked at the one near us for about 40 years.  That is where I got my Washer, Dryer and Refrigerator and they are still going strong after all these years.

One of many to come. Chapter 11 is a corporate restructuring of debt so they will still be around, for a little while at least. A lot of their stores should be closing as shopping malls begin to diminish and Sears has locations that do not make sense. For instance, we have a posh, luxury mall in Colorado and Sears holds a spot at this location. The retail rent is astronomical and met by stores like Nordstroms, Montblanc, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The clientele is not looking for discount clothing, tools and appliances. It is, most likely, because of poor decisions like this that Sears needs to restructure. Internet shopping is killing brick and mortar locations by offering cheaper prices, convenience and crowd avoidance. Fulfillment centers can now cover larger ticket items.

Our local Sears store closed several years ago and the K-Mart closed over 15 years ago.  They just can't compete with WalMart and Amazon.

Years ago the downtowns were thriving and then shopping malls sprang up and everyone was lamenting the decline of downtown shopping districts.  These days in my area, downtown is starting to make a comeback, but the shopping mall is now losing many of its anchor stores. Locally we used to have JC Penney, Sears, Macy's, and Elder Beerman at our mall.  Today only JCP is still open and the others remain vacant.

It's the ebb and flow of supply and demand and how and where people want to spend their shopping dollar.

Our Sears closed.  I loved Sears, like many others, I've purchased appliances from them for years.   I also loved shopping there at Christmas time.  Husband loved buying tools there.   It was at our mall but I would go and park by Sears and only go to Sears.  I'm sad it closed.

Our Sears is still open, thank goodness.  I don't shop there often but I do take my car there for maintenance and repairs.  Hard to believe that Sears is more than 125 year old and at one time it was the most iconic retailer in America.

It is so sad that all these brick-and-mortar stores are going out of business. First Toys R Us, now Sears. It's a shame that the online market has become a monopoly in the retail industry. I fear that one day, everything will be online. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good online sale every now and then, but I prefer to walk into a store and see what I want to purchase in person. I can physically examine it, make sure it is exactly the one I want. I can't do those things when purchasing online.

It saddens me too that Sears is closing.  Our small Sears store closed years ago in my small town and now the big Sears store in the Mall Sioux Falls has closed.  They cannot compete with online ordering.

I remember the big mail order catalogs that Sears, JC Penney, and Montgomery Wards sent.  We browsed through them for things to order.  These were the "Amazon" of yesteryear before there was an online
