Crossing the street
« on: October 06, 2018, 08:52:39 am »
How do the parents of today teach their kids when or when not to cross a street? if you are out with your kids and they are riding their bike or scooter, how do you teach them to stop when they come to a street or alleyway?

Based on my observations, parents don't teach their kids much of anything these days.  :-\

You verbally tell them and show them.

I would say  go with them  and  also tell them.  I have seen so many children  just run out into the street or  not stop for  cars, nor  stop signs  or stop lights. They need to be taught the rules of the road or get hurt. Of course then it is always someone else's fault if they get hit by a car.

They don't do things like that anymore, they let them go out on their own and learn, but if you care much for their safety, you will show them how to cross the street, drivers don't pay attention to surroundings.

We had to drive through a college campus a while back, I don't think parents taught their kids how to cross the street. All of the students walking had a phone in their hands and were texting and just walking across the street. They didn't even look up to see if any cars were coming.

Kids seem to do what ever they please ,  i live my train tracks and parents have their kids sit there for pictures,   really smart teach you kids to break the law for a picture , and risk their lives.

Because in today's world, parents drive their kids everywhere.  If they aren't taught as small kids, they will  learn by watching other people hopefully.

My kid taught me.  We had to bus it for a long time after my car died.  People don't look out for pedestrians around he;re.
