Maps or GPS

Can you read a road map and do you use one?  Do you rely on your GPS?

Yes I can read a map, but I prefer to use GPS.

It is much easier to let your phone tell you the next exit and which lane to be in rather than having to hold a paper map and refocus your eyes to it.

:bunny:   :cat:   :dog: I can still read a map, much easier for me. I still prefer to use a map to look at the location of a place. I do use a gps if I'm in a hurry to get to a location. Gps's are cool though.  :bunny:   :cat:   :dog:

I love the gps because it helps you step by step to your directions.  I think maps are so hard to follow in general.

When I was young I had to read gas meters (when they were still in people's basements). They gave me a map and a list of houses and I was on my way. It gave me a great sense of direction. Of course everyone uses GPS today although once in a while I will pull out an old map just so I know I can still do it.

Yes I still use a map for trips, but around the local area I prefer the Waze app on my phone because it shows me how to avoid bad traffic areas.

If I go someplace new I prefer to get directions from google then print it out and study it so I actually know the way. 8)

I still use the old fashion maps and hate GPS.  No one should rely on it for traveling and learn how to read a map.

It's nice to be able to read a map. I believe that's true. But it's really hard to find maps nowadays. I had my smartphone for a year before my oldest son told me it had Google Maps on it. I am one tech savvy girl, donchano?  ::)

Now I'm in love. With my son, as always, and now with my GPS as well (okay, let's call it affection). It's so fun.  :icon_rr:

BTW, now that we all use GPS, what's gonna happen to all the cartographers of the world?

Or are they already out of business? How sad.  :crybaby2:

I still use road maps. I'm comfortable with using them so I don't see the need to change.

I can read a map but I always seems to have a outdated one.  I need to remind myself to buy a new one when they are published. The Turin Papyrus Map is sometimes characterized as the earliest known road map.  Drawn around 1160 BC!!  :o

I like GPS, it is not only to tell you where is the traffic jams and it'll tell you how long is your the distance
