What is so sad  is to see these able bodied people getting on SSI, when all they are doing  is acting. While those who really need it have a very hard time  getting the help they need.  I had to go  get my drivers lic. after driving on the same name for 60 years.  Anyway back to the SSI.  I watched 2  men  and 1 women come in to get help to sign up for SSi and  not one of them was handicapped at  all nor were they mentally ill. The one man  went out after being  helped on his crutches barely able to walk. Get to his pickup throw the crutches into the back and drive off like nothing ever happened. the other 2  got outside out of sight and  really did a jig because they got approved.  Those I call leeches . But it is a same that the ones in need  can't  get help. Not one of the 3 were white.
What does race have to do with SSI Disability?

It should not have anything to do with it.  But it does.  If you are black or hispanic you will get approved easier.  And the forms DO ask what your race is.  Although they should not.  So that would be my question....
WHY do you need to know the color of my skin.  Has nothing to do with my physical limitations.

I knew a man who was getting SSDI for a bad back....then SSDI caught him pulling heavy rocks from a stream LOL.
(I suspect his ex-wife turned him in)

It depends on your state and your condition.

What is the difference between SSI and SSDI?
Can you get both at the same time?
Are the amount of benefits the same?

I doubt it.  I am sure she benefited from the check as well.  It helped pay the bills.  I would guess a neighbor.  I use to have a neighbor that mowed his yard in the middle of the night so no one would see him or be able to video him mowing.  He was drawing disability for a "bad back" as well.  He was not and is not disabled. He still does whatever he WANTS to do.

Social Security Income is what old people get.  Or a kid if their parent dies.
Social Security Disability Income is what most times lazy people get. Suppose to be for people who are disabled but these days the majority of people drawing it are NOT disabled.  I know a man that could not walk until he was able to get approved. Now he stays on vacation, walking the beaches, whatever, living the good life.

I have to disagree with you on that. LAZY people don't get SSI. I seriously doubt that a judge would grant someone SSI with NO evidence. See, anybody who is well off and doesn't need SSI always criticizing the ones who really need it. You have to be slow to speak on subjects like this. One day you or yours will need it.

WHY did you put your comments in the middle of mine? I know someone who was kicked off the site for that.

Yes, there are people who are drawing disability who are lazy. They are not disabled. They played the system.
I know a bunch of people who are drawing disability and they are not disabled.

And FYI you have no idea what my situation is. None at all.  For all you know I could need disability myself and be one of the ones who can't get it.  And I am far from "well off".  If I were rich I would NOT be wasting time on this site or any other survey sites.  So you should take your own advice on being slow to speak.

I state the truth. No where did I saw that every one drawing disability is just lazy. But there are a lot of people who are living off the system that do not need to be.
