Steel Curtain

Just heard this morning that Kennywood Park (near Pittsburgh) is going to debut a new rollercoaster in 2019 called the Steel Curtain. It is going to feature a black coaster track with yellow support structure and they are going to have an entire new section of the park themed to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It will be the first pro football team themed rollercoaster, but now I wonder if other parks will follow suit. I hope that Cedar Point passes on the opportunity to make a Cleveland Browns themed ride. That could be a disaster!


Anyway, it looks like it will be an enjoyable ride! I might have to plan a trip back to my roots and take a Steel Curtain ride next summer.

I wonder how much they have to pay to create a section of the park that is with the theme of a professional sports team. Mascots and names are copyright protected and you have to pay to use them legally.

I hadn't heard that but it is interesting.  And yeah, I would think that this will become a trend.  I'm not a football fan but I do follow what you are saying about the Browns.

Tallest in the state of PA; most inversions in the U.S. (9); and tallest inversion in the world - but I don't recall what the exact height is. I still prefer my rides at Cedar Point as far as coasters go, but as a Steeler fan, this looks like it will be fun ride to add under my belt!

I'm sure the Steelers had a hand in this theme park and only if it makes money (as the 'next big thing') others will follow suit.  But honestly, other than the theme, if there is nothing to separate it from other amusement parks, I don't see how it can be better than those already in existence.
