Therapy can help
« on: July 10, 2018, 11:07:48 am »
I have been in therapy for years and it does work. I was going through alot and now when I think about it, it doesn't affect me anymore. It's not a waste of money if you need to talk with someone about your issues etc. :)

I'm sure it works well for the therapist.

I really do not care for therapy. It really never helped me.

I'm glad you found help through therapy it can help people sometimes people have to come down off of their pride ladder and realize they do need help and that's okay! We all need help at some point in our lives. I hope you continue to move forward!

Yes seeking help is much better than trying to solve the issues on your own. Some people become overwhelmed and end doing the unspeakable.

Talking does help, it's the first step in coming to a solution, glad that it's helping you, wish everyone would just talk about their problems instead of taking it out on the world.

I am glad the therapy is helping you.  I am a firm believer that therapy can be a good thing as long as you are willing to open up and be honest with your therapist.

If someone believes that sitting on their right hand while tickling their ear with their left hand works, then they are right.  It's all in our heads.

Therapy is something I realize that is truly within YOU. The therapist will listen and hear you out but will have you hear for yourself out loud and you basically heal yourself. I do this with my clients as a health coach. It's called mirroring. :)

That is good to hear. I had a coworker who went to a therapist and she said that she benefited from this. It is always good to be in the presence of good people.

I think therapy can help people.  Particularly physical therapy.  When it comes to mental therapy I suppose much depends on the conditions of the individual.  If there is addictions involved.  When people can't talk to anyone else but can share personal details with therapists with not judgement and 100% support I'm sure  that's a huge reassurance for patients.

I think therapy can help people, but it depends on the person. The person has to be willing to accept the help they are receiving in order to see results. If the person is not willing to change their behavior, therapy will not help. A doctor can give a person medicine but if the person does not take it, they will not get better.

I know a few people who said they have benefited from therapy, and seem happier. I've considered speaking with a therapist, but  not sure yet :-\

I've been seeing a therapist off and on for years when I get huge bouts of anxiety and depression.  It has always helped.  He makes me distinguish between what I "feel" is reality and what it really is.   We work out a plan.  I don't do well with big changes, so when my son turned 18, graduated, and we had a house fire all in 6 mo, my anxiety and depression were off the charts.  Talking to my therapist helped me to get through it and start taking charge of myself and my life again.
