Nope, just going to be a normal day for us unfortunately. Work stays open, it will probably be a late night.

I will be attending a cookout at my Mom's church, been  visiting her since last week; thankfully there are a lot of trees on the church property as this heat is nothing to play with; I am sure they will have the inside open with the air for those who need it.

No. I'm gonna sleep in. Get my groceries. Get a hair cut. Then take another nap, and watch the fireworks on tv with my favorite cat, which is turning into a 4th of July tradition for me. Maybe if I had a 5 day weekend, I'd go see the fireworks somewhere, but I don't really feel like going out if I'm going to work the next day.

There are stands all over and some idiots are shooting them off in their yards all hours.  My one friend said her neighbors were shooting them up until midnight.

I don't mean to sound crabby, but if they are only shooting them until midnight, consider yourself lucky! In our neighborhood (and others nearby) they go through until almost daylight some days. Not constant/steady, but enough to wake you up from a dead sleep in the wee morning hours.

WOW, that’s really bad.  Isn’t there something you can do?  Isn’t there a noise law in your community?

I'm working 1/2 day and then we will cook out for dinner.  I hate it when holidays fall in the middle of the week!
Have a wonderful day!

I've been toying with the idea of staying in myself.

No. I'm gonna sleep in. Get my groceries. Get a hair cut. Then take another nap, and watch the fireworks on tv with my favorite cat, which is turning into a 4th of July tradition for me. Donating plasma at six in the morning, volunteering at a no-kill dog shelter for three hours, working my second job for eight hours, barbecue with the family, and work out for an hour followed by the requisite fireworks watching. So happy to be working only one job. I may take three days off from y day time job so that I can make more cash at my night time/weekend job this month. Our neighborhood is a war zone with fireworks. I would estimate that some households spend over a thousand dollars on Fireworks. It doesn't even pay to go to the public exhibitions. I personally can not see spending that kind of money on something that goes up in smoke. It is kind of like taking ten one hundred dollar bills and lighting them up-so wasteful.

Yes, I have a real big dynamite firecracker of a plan: I plan to sit under the trees on my property and read all day. Maybe I will get up from time to time to get myself a nice cold lemonade or iced tea.

Helping out at a local 4th of July event (supervising first Aid table) of a couple hours - then heading over to church to help out with an event there as well. Should be fun!

It isn't easy to enforce. There is enough other crime and mischief going on that calling the police about firecrackers at 2:30 in the morning isn't going to do a whole lot of good. Not a knock on the police by any stretch.  They WILL come out if we call them, but then you have to give a report and whatnot and end up wide awake for the rest of the night from that moving around and such... In the end - it's annoying as all hell, but still more productive to just let it go, try to get back to sleep, and be happy when they finally run out of their supply.

All of that said, I absolutely love the holiday and all that it represents. God Bless America!!!

I live in a city that has a huge firework festival with military appreciation & big screens & live music & a long firework display at the local park.  We'll be there, occupying space & picnicking all day.  It's going to be a fun time :)
