High Electric Bills
« on: June 19, 2018, 11:22:15 pm »
I just received a disconnection notice yesterday! :-[ Got to pay by next week.  :sweat:These cooling bills are getting expensive. The hotter it gets, the harder our AC's are working!

That must be very stressful. Luckily our apartment stays cool without a ac.

I'm not looking forward to paying that high electric bill, cringing at the thought.

:P I do not use the AC unless it is totally HOT! Like 100 or more. We got August weather already in Portland, Oregon. It's in the 90's  :-\

Our electric bill is double in the summer from what it is in the winter. This year is no different. I love the winter months here in Florida to get a break from the high bill.

I only use my AC when it's really hot like  90 degrees or higher. But when it's 80 or lower. I just use a fan.

I try to only use my central air when I have to.  Last year I purchased fans on clearance and put them in the windows to keep the house at a decent temperature.  I also have shades which I can pull  down when the sun is on a particular part of the house to keep some of the heat out.

I feel your pain so to speak my latest electric bill went up $35 which on disability and a very small retirement check that is painful. Here in central FL where I live it is so hot and humid.   8)

We were using our AC continuously during a long hot spell.  Then we lost power for 7 hours.  I think that saved us on the utility bill.

I use to hate the summer bill I would receive during the summer. I chose to pay one set amount year round. They averaged out my 12 months and not I pay the same each month. I prefer to do that than to see it go up higher. My bill has not changed in 2 years.

Yeah I wish I could do solar in my area but I have too many trees so it would not work for me. My electric is ridiculous! If I could live like the Amish, I would! lol

All of our utility bills will be going up at least 3% in the next few months since the local school board has imposed a 3% tax on all utilities.  We already pay a tax on all property (house, land, vehicles, etc.) for the school system.
Have a wonderful day!
