It makes me sad to hear that family who deals with depression is wanting to end life. Death is permanent. We loose a mom, dad, sister, brother, any family member.  It takes a while to deal. But you can't loose yourself. Grief is real. My cousin just buried her husband this month. They had been together for over 25 years. When you loose someone that you have been with for years, the lost, the pain, the hurt, the loneliness, its not going to go away over night, don't let the loss consume your heart, mind, body and soul. You and your son need to talk to someone. There are people out there that can help with you with your loss. I still miss my mom, she died in 88, from Breast Cancer, I miss her everyday, but I'm not letting depression rule or take over my life.

Yes I've fought depression a few times..  Family member passing, divorces, the loss of a child - kids moving on (I snapped out of that last one real quick more of an adjustment than a depression)  I have found ways to cope.  Taking care of me is #1 Spiritually, physically and mentally.  I always feel better when I eat right and exercise.  Just picked up a bike yesterday - riding it to work today.  PMS always triggers some depression so I'm hoping this extra jaunt on my new wheels will help combat that.

One thing that I truly wish people would understand is that we are the only ones in control of our minds.  When we label something a 'disease' it makes people think that we have no control over it.  That is complete nonsense.  You are in control and you can accomplish more than you ever dreamed.

I have severe depression, my mom and my youngest sister have same problem.  I lost my daughter a year ago to suicide, she was only 28.  She was in jail and the jail still refusing to release suicide notes.  She was under suicide watch, told her husband the night before of her plans, he called the jail and informed them and they still did not stop her.  She was going home soon and would not hold on.  She was my second daughter that i had lost.  I lost my other daughter to drowning at age 5.  So my depression is deep and lasting a long time .   I have not come to grips of my daughter suicide, have not forgiven and refuse to accept it.  I am under professional help and it helps sometimes but I have my real bad days were I am ready to follow her.  She took half my soul and heart with her and i will never get them back.

Yes, I've been diagnosed with a major depressive disorder. Truthfully, there's very little I enjoy in life. I like the company of my cat. I like to watch soap operas. I like to indulge in a little alcohol and binge on chips and guac. But that's about it.

I work full-time and I'm proud of myself for that because many people with the issues I have are on disability, not that I'm faulting them at all. I might be on disability one day, but for now, I get out of bed and try my best to contribute, even if I'm crying on the inside.

Life is so boring for me. For the first 18 years of my life, my parents were my best friends and then they more or less stopped talking to me. They're not very good people, but I do really miss their presence in my life.

I'm looking forward to the 4th of July because (1.) It's a day off work, (2.) I plan on sleeping most of the day, and (3.) I'll watch the fireworks on tv with my favorite cat. Honestly, my cat means so much to me. I can't imagine life without a little buddy like her.

When I was a teen. I also have very bad anxiety that has a major affect on everyday life. As far as depression now I am good. I have been happy for many years now.

I've been diagnosed with chronic, albeit typically mild, depression. I bet a lot of my family members have it as well, but they won't go to see if there is anything that can be done about it.

I think we all dealt with depression in job loss and family sickness.  Its hard to manage life situations and just need to know how to get over the sadness.
