Why do they call it a butterfly . . .

. . . when it should be called a flutterby? Because that's what they do; right?

I don't see many anymore. I think they are disappearing.  :(

I hope butterflies do not disappear!  I love them too.

Every year I search for monarch caterpillars and hatch them.  I love to watch the miracle enfold.

Don't see too many of them. However, I just seen a beautiful blue one yesterday. I do love butterflies.

:monkey:  :)  :monkey: I see a butterfly at least once a week where I live. I guess you have to be in the right place at the right time to see them fly around. If you work mostly in doors the chance's are lower than if ou get outside to see them.  :monkey:  :)  :monkey:

That don't make sense, calling a butterfly a flutterby doesn't sound right.

We see lots of butterfly and bees,  but we go out of our way to plant plants that they are attracted to.  We live in the middle of a big city, so it is not the location.  We live across from a VA Hospital where we see coyote running around on the grounds.

The word "buterfleoge" in Old English, which means "butterfly" in our English today. ... One story is that they were named so because it was thought that butterflies, or witches that took on the shape of butterflies, stole milk and butter.

I want to use this in a story now! I love finding out about folklore like this. Thank you.  :rose:
