How do you judge a person?
« on: June 01, 2018, 04:23:36 pm »
I used to judge people by how they look, but as I have gotten older, I realize that I do not know their situations. So now I listen to things they say. If they say something that is really "off the wall" then I back away.

I have a tendency to judge people by their actions.
Have a wonderful day!

Only one should judge - Jesus. One without sin can cast the first stone.

I try not to be judgemental, but I do evaluate people by their words and actions.  All people make mistakes.  All people need forgiveness for one thing or another.

By how they treat other people.  Looks don't really matter, because it doesn't tell you anything about the kind of person they are.  And sometimes even the 'off the wall" things people say isn't a good indicator.  If you ask them what they meant, sometimes it will make perfect sense.
Everybody is different.  If we respect the differences, and allow for it, we're happier people.

I try to keep an open mind and give everyone the benefit of the doubt.  If I don't feel comfortable with them I just keep my distance.

I don't judge "per-se" or try not to because the bible says "judge not lest ye be judged".  I know what kind of person I have been and we all do things wrong so I try not to judge but being human I know I do sometimes.

One of my goals is to not judge people. Everyone is valuable and loved in one way or another. I try to understand where they are coming from if they are angry, making poor choices, have a different focus than I do, place value on things not as important to me, and do not judge people based on my beliefs. I love my children unconditionally. I am in the office before/after any one else at my day job, work more hours than full time employees at my second job, and am constantly seeking additional streams of income. I aim to not provide an opportunity for others to judge me in a poor light and to lead by example. If I do not have something good to say, I say nothing. I do not belittle others. Several members on this thread have stated that judgement should only be cast by the almighty-I am in agreement.

I think you nailed it in your original post.  It's not our job to judge anyone.  I've tried and tried to give people the benefit of the doubt - 2nd chances and such.  Bottom line if things people say and there actions don't reflect that of which I believe thanI don't need to comment, I don't need to partake and I don't need to opinionize - that's not my place.  I just need to listen and be there for them if and when they want me to be.  And when that time comes I need to allow God to work through me. A tough lesson to learn - I'm in my 40's and just now got it.

I try not to judge people at all.  But if you are around people long enough they will show you what they really are. That isn't judging them.

I get what you are saying about not knowing a person's situation but at the same time you can no matter what your situation take a bath and put clean clothes on.
