Do you take out the hair and eat it, or do you throw it out, if at a restaurant do you send it back?.....just curious

If I was at a restaurant I would probably show to a manager and ask for my money back. I would not send it back. Do not ever send food back to the kitchen in a restaurant they will spit in it or worse. Just refuse to pay for it and leave. If I am at home and it is mine I take it out and go on.

I work in the food industry and have to wear a hair net.  They are not full proof.  If someone has hair on there clothes or a net falls off loose hair has the potential to end up in food.  Other things to watch out for: fingernails and ew bandaids.  If a skin toned bandaid is worn in an establish it's a warning to me that food safety practices are not being enforced.  A bright colored bandaid should be worn so if it does fall into food it can easily be seen. I send my food back or get money back if hair or anything else for that matter is in it.

Moons ago I was a short order cook in a hospital. I can remember a Dr coming into the café telling the gal who made the sandwiches that he was in the bathroom throwing up because there was a hair in his sandwich. I had to laugh, because here is a Dr who can look at blood and God knows what else, but a hair made him sick. It just struck me funny lol

Why did he yell at her? Did he do an analysis and know the hair he found belonged to her?

In a restaurant I would not hesitate to send the food back.  I would probably ask to see the manager to be sure he was aware.  If I were almost done with my food I would ask for a comped meal.   I know things happen but it's just no acceptable in a restaurant.

If you know things happen then how can you say it is not acceptable in a restaurant? Like you said, things happen.  Most restaurants they do not have the employees wearing hair nets. Don't believe me then look around next time you eat out. And the waitress who carries the food out needs to have a hair net on as well cause her hair can fall in to the food easily.

I agree 100% with those who have said they would ask for their money back or not pay for the meal.  I am not asking for a replacement meal cooked in the same kitchen by the same cook.  And if it is at home, yeah, I admit, I would throw it out and start over.  I know lots would disagree with that, but, no, I couldn't eat it.
