That is like shooting yourself in the foot but I will say since I had a couble doctors steer me the wrong way already maybe it is not the worst thing in the world either.

I have to be very honest with my health provider. I have serious health problems which influence my life.

That’s so childish. You mustn’t lie about health failures. That’s cheating! You never hide what should be your doctor’s concern from him or her! I think I’ve read that some people with seizure disorders keep their seizures a secret from their neurologists so they (the ones with the disorders) can feel that they don’t need restrictions. When something tragic happens to me healthwise and know or logically assume it’s any of my doctors’ concern, I make sure I let him/her/them know and tell the whole story. I manage to find out whenever I have kept what is supposed to be a doctor’s concern a secret by mistake and remember having done so.

If you want to stay healthy and live a long life, you'll want to be honest to your doctor.

I am honest to my doc or nurse practitioner.

On the other hand, I do not automatically believe or follow all their advice

If you just listen to TV commercials all the possible side affects from drugs. Plus I am allergic to most.

Was told to get pneumonia shot....got pneumonia Was told to get hep c shot for immunity, as I worked with sick folks. The shot made me so sick, I was re-assigned to different clients.

The shingles shot can give you shingles.

I just exercise, take vitamins, am quite healthy for my age.  That was not the regimen suggested....shots, shots..and I am doing fine.

I think this is a mind trick some people try and play on themselves.  I guess they figure if they eat good a week or 2 before there pre-scheduled appt. the Dr. will believe what they are saying to them.  I don't think they realize that blood work tells Dr.'s a whole lot more about a person than they realize....Some lab work can give Dr.'s a feel for how someone has been handling there lifestyle based on 3+ months or longer.  So there being dishonest will catch up to em eventually.  I'm honest with my Dr.'s now - the older I get the more honest  and open I've become with them.

They don't care.  My doctor is obese she can barely walk just sits at her desk and ask questions.  How are you going to give advice about being healthy when you are obese?

A doctor that is about as round as he is tall told a friend of mine (who was not fat at all) she needed to loose a few pounds.  I swear she looks at him and says "well tubby when you loose a few pounds you can critique my weight" LOL

Most doctor's just want to feed you pills.  I went to a specialist once and the nurse asked me if I was taking any medication currently.  I said no.  She laughed and said "you will be when you leave her today". I got mad and said "NO I won't".  She was right - he gave me 2 scripts and wanted to start me on injections.  I had to get pretty forceful refusing the injections that I did not need.  And I did not take the scripts.  They done blood work and 2 months later they call me in for an appointment (more money) to discuss the blood work (good thing I was not dying) only to make me sit there over 2 hours to tell me every thing came back normal.  This was the last time I went to this idiot.

At the same thing a doctor does not have the right to not believe someone either.  Some of the questions I have been asked before I just think what difference does that make at all? And like I said in the last post sometimes you can tell they do not believe you so why bother answering to start with.

Yes, when I need to see a doctor I tell him/her what is the problem I'm having.
