Because a lot of people will try anything and everything they can to discredit him because they don't want him to be the president.

Where was Obama born?  Even if he was born out of the US doesn't matter if his parents were citizens.  My brother was born in Japan, doesn't mean he's any less of an American citizen, just happened to be the timing of it.

what difference does it make to be born inside or outside the united states
the most important thing is he qualified to be president or not?
will he succeed in his mission or not?
it's too hard for him specially with bad economy and two wars in Iraq and Afghanestan, he has a lot to do and I think it is too early to say if he is good or bad

I think he has done a pretty good job no matter WHERE he was born..........he was left a mess and has cleaned it up pretty well.  Could ANY of us do a better job?

I agree. He walked into a nightmare and some people expected him to wave a magic wand and make it go away. It took time to get into this mess and it will take even longer to get out of it.

The issue is that his grandmother claims that he was born in Cuba and all the proof that he has shown is a certificate of live birth from Hawaii.  So there are some people out there that want him to prove that he was actually born in Hawaii.  The thing is in order to be president of the United States you must have been born IN THE UNITED STATES.

If he was not born in the Unites States then he is not eligible to be president.  If he was born in the United States then he is eligible.

So groups that want to get him out of office are trying to puch a campaign that will force Obama to produce an actual birth certificate from Hawaii that states that he was born in Hawaii not just a certificate of live birth from Hawaii that says that yes he born alive on this date but does not say where he was born.

I watched a video about this the other day.  If you send them a $30 donation they will give you a bumper sticker.  Sounds like someone trying to make money to me but hey who knows where Obama was born.

This is what gets me the most about the whole "birther" movement. I just took a look at my birth certificate, and the official title of the document is "Certificate of Live Birth", complete with my full name, parents' complete info, the hospital in which I was born, everything.

Now, this is a Connecticut birth certificate, not Hawaii, but a brief Google image search shows me several different formats of Hawaii birth certificates, all stating "Certificate of Live Birth", not "Birth Certificate", and calling for location of birth. Clearly, they're grasping at straws if that's the level of 'validity' they seek.

Never mind the fact that, had he indeed not been born in the US, that'd've been brought to light well before he even started campaigning.

I agree, he was left with a mess and he is doing okay cleaning it up.  You know our Governor wasn't born in America either, and he became the governor. I think it is because he became a US citizen.  I am not sure about Obama, but I wish everyone would stop the crap, because he is the Pres and there is nothing they can do about it.  Get on with it already!

The opposition is desperate, plain and simple. They have and are trying anything to either have him completely thrown out of office or make him as ineffective as possible by opposing anything he will put forth. It's sad that both parties do this now to spite the other party, while we get stuck in the middle of this pissing contest.

It's actually stipulated in the Constitution that native-birth in the US is one of the requirements to run for president:

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States

This actually eliminated Alexander Hamilton, as he was born in the West Indies. Unless Schwarzenegger can go back in time and obtain citizenship at the time of the writing of the Constitution, it'll take an amendment to allow him to run.

But I digress. Birthers have even tried the argument that Obama's father was not a citizen at the time of his [Barack's] birth, therefore Barack is not a citizen. By that argument, Chester A. Arthur would also not have been a legitimate president.

This is frankly a pathetic attempt to oust Obama by any twist or loophole possible. I find it amazing that people believe he's running the country into the ground. Don't get me wrong, he's made his share of mistakes, but the fact remains that it took the previous administration 8 years to get us in this mess; no-one could fix it all in 8 months. I give him credit for jumping right in and making the effort at all.

so what does that say about the u.s government if they don't even know i the prez was born in the united states? they shouldn't even be debating it now because he is in the house now. it shoulda been debated and researched while he was running. now all that matters is if he is gonna be able to clean up the mess bush made for is country :dontknow:

How many times must it be proven that Obama was born in Hawaii? These people are crazy. Why do they want to destroy our first president with both a brain AND a moral compass since Lincoln???? If only the lunatics would shut up and get out of the way ---if only for a few months?? please???--- he could help get this poor, battered country back on her feet again.
