The Apu Character

If you are familiar with The Simpson TV show, do you think the Apu character is offensive to Indians?

I'm not Indian so I'm not the best person to comment on this. But I think it's much ado about nothing -- a comedian trying to make a name for himself so he made a Netflix movie. The Simpsons is a cartoon show so pretty much all the characters are stereotypes to one degree or another. I don't even think Apu is a negative stereotype. He works hard and is a nice guy. Maybe the accent is a bit much but I frankly think there are more important issues for us all to worry about. Cleveland on Family Guy is voiced by a white guy. They make stereotypical jokes about him that I'm sure many could find offensive but it's a stupid cartoon show. They're making jokes. Also, The Simpsons has been on tv for 28 years now?? Some things that weren't offensive 28 years ago are offensive now so we can't look at something that was created in 1990 through 2018 lenses and be offended today.

The show's been on for over 25 years and it has never bothered anyone before.  I think we all should stop trying to find fault or offense in everything.

the thing is people take things too far some cases where it is racist it should not be and others where it is not but people make it that way this is america where we should have freedom of speech but often get penilized for it
