I'm glad I peaked in this posting as I too had heard $600 per site.  I've never come close to earning that much from one site alone.  But I can see it how it's possible and how some have done it.  Recently  I was just in another site and someone was cashing out $300.  Don't know how long it took them to get there but I suppose $$$ like that will add up quickly to a 1099.

I got two 1099's from survey sites this year ! YES 600.00  money and or gift cards both count .  If your getting close to 600.00 at the end of the year hold off cashing out till the next year.  Remember your internet connection is a expense then  if your getting that 1099 so if the net costs you 60.00 a month  or 720.00 a year it wipes that 600.00 out Tax people can help with that.

Also the survey site has to get you're SS number to send you a 1099 .  Some thing they ask for when you're close to 600.00

You go girl............... 8)

Wouldn't you just love to have about 10 recruits just like me or you !!    ???  ???

Keep your annual earnings under $600 and you will not get a form. I let my earnings creep up to $700 or so one year and it ended up costing me about $200 in taxes!! It would have been better for me to just let my earnings expire and cash out the first part of January. I won't make that mistake again.

Inboxdollars asks for your information when you get to the $300 threshold, but they do not send you a form unless you are over $600. I cashed out around $450 with them this year and they withheld a payment when I hit $300 until I sent them a W9.

there is no dumb question. If you reach to $600 per year then you'll need to fill out the tax form

1099 form, how do you avoid getting one? and if you cash out for an amazon GC will you get a 1099 for that?

If you don't want to get a 1099 then you have to keep your earnings under $600.  It does not matter how you are paid.  If it is Amazon Codes or Cash or whatever.  It is still money you earn.  If you get close to $600 then focus on other sites.  Keep a running total on how much you earn on each site.  When you get to $500 slow down so you can still stay active in the site until January then cash out again.  But what ever you cash out in Dec will not pay til January.

You only get a 1099 (it is my understanding) if you make more than $600.00 from one site.  I have personally never gotten one from an online site.  Now I worked as an independent contractor doing bookkeeping and made more than $600 for the year and got a 1099.  If you make enough money there is no way to avoid it except keep track of your earnings and stay under that amount.  And I am not "up to date" on all this because I am retired so I answered to the best of my knowledge.

You should get a 1099 if you make $600+ in one calendar year.
Have a wonderful day!
