Need Software Advice
« on: April 15, 2018, 11:09:59 am »
I am looking for some software and so far no one can give me any information I can use.  I need two things.  Would be nice if one software program could do both.

One is something to make the picture DVDs.  I have been using WinDVD but when Windows 10 came out that is no longer included.  So the only place I have it is on an old laptop that has problems and I can not be sure it is even going to come on.

I also need something to burn DVDs.  I want to shoot individual videos and then be able to drop them in to the program and arrange them the way I want to and be able to make my own DVD.  I thought Real Player would do that.  But, I have an older version, also on the old laptop, that I paid for a few years ago and I cannot find any way to do this.  Maybe it is just the older laptop and program that is making things not seen to work.

So my question is if any one knows of software that will do the two things I am needing to do.  I have made several picture DVDs for different events for people but would like a newer program and one I can depend on. lol

Thanks in advance for any real help anyone can give.

So what you want is something that will create a DVD slide show?

My TV set will show pictures like a slide show automatically if I load them on a USB stick.

I've used a program called "play memories" before.  I'm not sure if it's something I downloaded or if it came with my laptop.  But it worked for what I needed.  I uploaded video's.  (put em on youtube) But one time I went through a video clip by clip and used one of the images for a picture for another project.  It was exactly what I needed and since it was a surprise for someone I didn't want to ask them for a picture.

My son downloaded a program called "Clip and Go" and another one called DVD Styler.  I have never used them but it wouldn't hurt to check them out.

I am not sure if you are just looking to burn or want other editing capabilities but I would suggest Adobe Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements.

So what you want is something that will create a DVD slide show?

My TV set will show pictures like a slide show automatically if I load them on a USB stick.

That will not work.  I want two things.  One will make a DVD slide show.  But it needs to be on a DVD.  Not a TV.  I have made several for people to play at a funeral.  It has to be a DVD.  I have software to do that now.  But  as I said that laptop is on it's last leg.  So I need something to replace it.  And Windows 10 does not have the WINDVD program.

The other thing, and I am going to try something today to see if it will work, is I want something that I can combine several individual videos and put them on a DVD to make a bigger DVD.  Just like 2-3 minutes videos here and there and put them all on a DVD together.

I do not upload videos to youtube.  The software to make the picture dvd slide show came with Windows 7.  And it worked really well.

Thanks I will look this up.  I played around looking at Real Player but can't see where it will do what I want.  I will look at this and read and see what the features are and see if it will work for me.

I will look at those as well.  Thanks.

I am not sure if you are just looking to burn or want other editing capabilities but I would suggest Adobe Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements.

I have the adobe (about 3 of them) apps.  As I said, I make dvd slide shows for people to play at funerals.  I have only made a few and make them for family.  I am fixing to work on another one for the church.  No one really knows about this one. It is going to be a surprise. :D  Basically, I want a new program that will make the DVD slide shows and will burn them to a DVD so they can be played in ANY DVD player.  I am having issues with the laptop that has the program I currently use and I cannot get it for the newer laptop.  SO I need something before the old one goes completely out.

The other I basically want to compile shorter videos that have been taken either with a video camera or on my phone and arrange them and put them together on a dvd.  Again, that can be played in any dvd player.  Being able to edit the dvds would be nice.  In other words if I wanted to snag a smaller section off of a dvd.  There is a picture program on my laptop that we paid for but I have never been able to figure out how to use it.  I think it is called Corel or something.  It is complicated.  OR it is to me.
