Swine Flu!
« on: September 28, 2009, 03:32:32 pm »
Well, it is official.  My son has the swine flu and I am pretty sure I do too.  We are both on Tamiflu.  He got it from a boy in his class.  He is feeling pretty crummy but we caught it very quick so hopefully we will both be ok.  He started feeling better immediately when the nurse told him he would be out of school for a week.  Funny how that works.

yikes, the Tamiflu stuff is probably worse for you than the flu. Its really nothing to worry about, nothing more than any other flu that is. The big problem is it's easy to catch, not that it's more dangerous to the host. In fact the majority of the 'deaths' reported in the first few months were retracted as they found out it was due to normal flu.

They are calling nearly anything swine flu based on symptoms instead of actual tests in most cases. One study even showed that less people by percentage have dies from swine flu than any other. Its not the flu that kills you, its the lack of fluids and dehydration etc. its lack of care. So treat it like any flu and take your vitamins, eat right, get rest etc. and it will be gone in no time... even one of the main actors in 'harry potter' had it and said it was like any other flu and he barely noticed it.

The swine flu is nothing but hype. It's just your ordinary flu, but a different strain. There are several strains.

so all the people i read about dying actually aren't?

i understand all the political and religious fanatics out there trying to push fear down our throats, but you really don't think the swine flu is as serious as they say?

interesting responses.

i can't say i've seen any conclusive reports or documentation to support the propaganda, so i guess you can say i will relax a little now

Thanks everyone.  My son's fever got up to 104 last night, but he was better today.  I know he has fever now but I am not going to dare wake him up to check it.  I feel better and then I will start feeling worse again.  It is really weird.  He was definitely sicker than me, so I don't know if that was the tamiflu helping or if older people just don't get as sick.  He got sick one day before me.  We will be catching up his homework for days now!

I wasn't really worried about it with my son until one of his friends classmates died of it last week. A 13 year old girl with no other health problems, and she was only the 2nd in the school to catch it. Anything that has the slightest chance of killing a kid isn't something to be ignored, no matter how much it's hyped or debated. I will definitely be getting him the vaccine when it's available.
