I think if you have the willingness to take a break from certain aspects of your life, then it's your right to do this. I've tried to have a break from Facebook before, but my willingness to stay off of it doesn't ever work that long for me! Good For you!  :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover:

I don't really use Facebook for anything so quitting didn't really take much for me.  I still occasionally get on since my sister and I have a messenger chat going with funny things we've found online, but that's about the extent of my Facebook usage.

I don't use facebook anymore. I have had a bad experience with it so I stay far away. This won't affect me at all. ::). It can be used for the positive and the negative. Too much drama(proven in news reports). Too many people bragging and bullying. I'll pass. I like twitter better.

After all the news about Zuckerberg, and the use of people's info without permission there, I am so grateful I saw the danger years ago, and steared clear of it.

I will not give them access to my privacy if I can help it.

I think that your giving up Facebook for Lent is an awesome idea.  Something you really enjoy and "crave" to do really helps put perspective into what our Lord gave up for us.  Our inconveniences and yearnings are small compared to what He did.

My original purpose to open a Face Book account was to work Crowd Flower tasks.  Then I started connecting with family and friends.

The truth of the matter for me is; if I want to connect with people, I'd much rather do it over the phone than on FB.  FB is O.K. but I really don't like all that' going on with it.

By the way, I don't think you are odd at all.  Being disciplined to take time off from an activity such as this is very commendable on your part.  Good for you.  You just may be a better person for it.

You are not odd for doing anything like that.  It is your life and your decision. It is like a co-worker who rides me constantly about a decision I have made concerning work.  I swear the next time he starts on me I am going to ask him "what the heck is it to you what I do and why do you concern yourself so much with what I do with my life".  My decision does not effect him in any way, shape, form, or fashion.  So if you want to give up Facebook for a while or forever that is your choice.

I originally got a personal Face Book account to check on ex-girlfriends. I then moved on to monitoring my children's activities. From there I joined a Jeep club that has all kinds of fun outings, suggestions for repairs and access to parts for my fifty something year old Jeep (she doesn't like anyone to know her true age-lol). During the day I work in more of an investigative/forensic capacity and most of my colleagues use Face Book to figure out illicit activity. This being said I was not too surprised that politicians were using Face Book in their advertising campaigns. I am kind of surprised at people in general, though, because I have never really put any personal information in my Face Book account. All of the information used to set up was my account was made up. I thought every one did this?
