Uber Driving
« on: March 08, 2018, 07:36:05 pm »
So I just started driving Uber about a week ago and I've done about 70 rides and have maintained a perfect 5-star rating. I crack jokes and provide a premium service (charge phones, offer AUX corders, snacks, etc). I help wake up passengers by making them stretch (with me) and doing fun things like arm circles to wake them up. I keep my car spotless and I've been told I'm the best/safest driver that one of my passengers has ever seen. I've been told I have AMAZING conversation and I'm a "fun Uber driver".

Well, today I picked up a guy who claimed to be a fellow Uber driver. He went on and on about how he just got into an accident (while driving with Uber) and that his car was in the shop. He saw that I had a perfect rating and said, "No one should have a perfect rating" and rated me 1-star. My rating is now 4.86. I have all 5-star ratings except this one 1-star rating. I'm beyond frustrated.

I wrote Uber and asked for an explanation, but terms/policy states that ratings cannot be changed.  :(

Just stick with your original commitment to keep a perfect score and it will slowly come back to you. With 70 more rides it will be in the 4.96 range and people will see it was only one jerk that kept it from 5.0.  Congratulations anyway!

So sorry this happened to you, some people are just jerks in general.  Stay safe driving!

Congrats to you. It takes a special person to do that kind of job. The person who gave you the one star is in the wrong profession. Your rating will indeed go back up.

I agree with Oldbuddy.  Just keep doing what you're doing and your rating will go back up.   Since drivers can rate passengers, I'm curious, why not rate this passenger?

I would not be good at it.  If it was a bad passenger I would have to say something nasty to them LOL    I'm just not a people person  LOL

You're in it for the money not the perfect rating.Eventually your 5 star rating would get hit whether your fault or not.   Find out the driver who did that to you and get some revenge with his business.   And that's what you get for being such an Uber Suck up

A similar thing happened to me in college. I had a 4.0 GPA and one of my teachers said nobody trusts anybody with a 4.0 GPA and he gave me a B. But I did graduate  with a 3.7 GPA (could not put c-u-m l-a-u-d-e because of the word police on FC). So I'm pretty proud of that since I was working full-time and it took me eight years to complete.

It really doesn't matter because none of the jobs I held ever cared if I had a degree or not because the degree wasn't in business, accounting or communication. They seem to be the biggies. Mine was in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Spanish, just FYI.

But I feel for you about the rating. It's neat to have a perfect one :star:, and terrible when someone just shoots you down for nothing else other than jealousy or just pure meanness.  :bad:

You must be doing a really great job so keep it up. 8) Ratings are really not all they're cracked up to be. In the greater scheme of things, they're irrelevant. And you're still a SUPER UBER guy.

Sounds like the guy is just bitter about the crash and his own personal rating. Don't let it get to you and just keep doing what makes you successful as an Uber driver.

Oh no! What a jealous competitor he sounds like! That's okay, I am sure you will get your ratings up. You sound like the ideal UBER driver and someone I would want to drive with ..lol. Don't let one jerk ruin it for you. I think you can rate the customer as well, correct? Give him a 1 star back. lol.. I know 2 wrongs don't make a right. You'll be fine. I hope you make a lot of money and don't forget to set money aside for your self-employment tax and keep track of everything to write off for taxes! :D

Sounds like you are really trying to be perfect, Keep up the good work, it is not a job  for me. I am not a good traveler, But some people love their job and sounds like you do. So ignore the jerks in life, they will get what is coming to them some day.

Thank you all, yeah, I've just taken a few days off from it and I'll get back to it. I'm literally in it for the extra money and to help people get around town. I'm not trying to make it a profession or anything.

I'm sure the rating will go back up, but it's definitely made me more cautious moving forward.

To the OP: It seems to me that this individual is a tad salty because you apparently have a better rating than you, and only gave you a bad rating out of spite and jealousy. Do not let that set you back. Continue being the great Uber driver you are!
