best and worst TV finales
« on: January 29, 2018, 09:40:15 am »
Just thinking I have been disappointed by many more final episodes of shows than pleased. I would say MASH is probably the only example I can think of a really good one. What are some really good or bad ones in your book?

I was disappointed with The Sapronos final episode. Did Tony die or not?

I was disappointed in the series finale of LOST years ago. Most series finales leave me feeling unsatsified in some way. I will say that the Breaking Bad series finale was pretty good though.

All the really bad ones have already been named but I'm going to throw out Walker Texas Ranger.  I that whole, show me the past and the decedents in the future thing was stupid.  I like the old shows like Barney Miller or even Wonder Woman and Greatest American Hero where their last episode was just another episode which leaves anyone to come back and pick up the show if they wanted.

How about the Sopranos or Seinfeld.... some pretty bad conclusions.

Hmm... none of the shows I've stuck to have had their finale yet, and I hope they don't for at least a few more years! I'll be really sad the day that Criminal Minds and Supernatural end.  :(

Best: The Golden Girls or maybe The Office

Worst: Three's Company (Janet and Jack should have been endgame.)

The worst ones in recent memory were Dexter & True Blood.....  both on cable, both awful & disappointing.

On the opposite spectrum, Breaking Bad's ending brought the entire series together in a satisfying conclusion.

I think the best TV "ending" was Newhart. I wouldn't say that the finale episode itself/as a whole was one of the best, but the very final scene where he woke up in bed on the remade set of his prior show was genius!

Can't think of a :worst: at the moment... Maybe I'll be back to contribute to this thread again later.

Worst was Seinfeld. That was the funniest show on tv, but I didn't laugh once during the finale. Not to mention them laughing at a fat man getting robbed was a pretty mean thing they did.
