Walking to school every day (in the snow and uphill both ways).

Having to do school reports using an encyclopedia instead of going online.  Using a typewriter to type up those reports instead of a computer.  No internet and going to the library instead.  Not having a cell phone at five years old.   Having to talk to people instead of texting.  Having to sit and wait for a cassette or VHS tape to rewind. Going to the video store to get a movie instead of streaming or ordering Netflix online.

Having bad handwriting since they don't teach cursive anymore. What a travesty!

Not intending to hijack this thread here (not worried since I know most will not read this response anyway) but after reading a few of the responses above I have to say that although many are quite true, there are also many new challenges and dangers that our kids face today that we did not.  Top on THAT list is the danger of online predators posing as other kids.

I agree UGotPaid! For every struggle we get rid of there is a new one waiting to pop up. There are quite a few my kids deal with that I never had to.

Your mom or dad spying on your phone conversation via other phone in the house on a home or landline phone. Also no spell check and hand writing papers for school.
