Children?

I have a 35 year old son that does not live with me.  When a survey asks if I have children,  is he considered a child?

Most specify that its referring to children under 18 and/or that live with you

My youngest is 26 I know it's confusing  sometimes. I usually say no when asked like that. Like when they put it a different way like 18 or older  I can say yes.

I think they mean under the age of eighteen who live with you , not adult children; at least that's my take.

I usually answer based upon how they ask the question. I have an 11 year old at home and a 26 year old out of the home.  So I still qualify if they are limiting their focus on minor children living at home (which is usually what they are looking for).


But if they are asking how many children, I always say TWO unless they specify at home in the question. Usually they specify at home AND under the age of 18. In that case I say only ONE. But if they just generally say "children" I believe it is an honest answer to include adult children out of the house.


That's my take on it. Others may disagree...

Being my kids are over 21 , I used to get this question and when they lived with me, I would say they lived with me but since they don't now  I don't worry about it.Sometimes You have to read the question  carefully. it says do you have any children whether or not they live with you.

My son is 37 and does not live with us.  When asked if I have children i always say yes.   If they are more specific, Children under 18 or children that live with you I say no.  But I do have a child so I answer yes.

I guess that is up you. I still live with my parents and I guess they still think that I am a kid sometimes. I know my grandparents did.
