Anyone with pets outside in the cold ?
« on: January 01, 2018, 04:44:10 pm »
I have 2 cats and one is inside and loves being inside from November-May,the other is hardcore(not even coming inside with 1 degree temps and runs and disappears when I try to grab her while she eats or drinks water, but she looks and acts healthy so she must have a good hiding place. I have neighbors with dogs who purposely leave the animals out in frigid temps so they don't get bothered...aholes !!!!!

People who leave animals outside are stupid, where i'm at it's -45 windchill. There are feral cats around where I live and I see one all the time I've lived here 6 years and the cat i see has a pack of kids and their kids and so on. She is pretty smart for old girl lots of them have been carried off by eagles ! I started feeding her when i first moved in BAD idea she had lots of friends !! Had to stop when her extended family took up camp under my shed.

We have 2 dogs and one loves to be outside in even in the cold.  Since it has been below zero here and the backyard is full of icy snow he  has changed his mind about laying out there.  But he still likes to stand out there and bark until his paws get to cold

All my animals are inside.  The cats are 100% inside cats.  The dogs go out (fenced in yard) in spring, summer, fall and will play or lay in the grass for periods of time, but with our weather now, no.  They go out to do their business and come right back in.  It’s too cold for any animal or person, to be out in this cold weather.

I should hope there is no one with pets outside. That would be horrible.

I couldn't leave any pet outside - could let them go out here and there, but need to have them home at night, inside - nice and toasty, comfy and happy!  :dog: :)

My hardcore cat finally gave up her outside ways for a lil bit,Heard her crying at 5:30 am and she finally came inside when temps outside were in the low teens and  first thing she did was drink a  pint of water. Now we'll see how long she'll stay in and sleep on a comfy warm  extra blanket next to her sister ?

The outside dog like the couch better then outside right now.  When he first came we could not even get him in the house.

My cat  :cat: stays inside. I did have a cat that loved it outside at wintertime in the day but not nighttime.

The temps around here in mid-Michigan have been averaging around zero or below sometimes with the wind chill.  If I saw a cat or dog outside and knew it was somebody's pet, I would contact them about letting them inside.

My neighbor's dog likes to go outside into the fenced back yard no matter the weather but she checks about every 15-20 minutes to see if the dog wants to come back inside.  Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't  However, it never stays out more than around 90 minutes in this weather.  What's funny is her grown son has a husky and she "dogsat" while they went on vacation recently.  That dog liked to be outside 3-4 hours at a time.  Only once night came and the really freezing temps were here would the dog go in and stay until the next morning.

Nope, my "children" stay in the house with me. I can't imagine leaving a defenseless animal out in the cold.
