Do you know any substance abusers /self destructives ?

yeah...my mother was addicted to the hard stuff..kept her in trouble a lot spent some time in jail...a brother who is an alcoholic,another brother who uses drugs...my grandmother was an alcoholic..seems a lot of them on mothers side were alcoholics...a brother in law who is a preacher got addicted to hard drugs..me i stay away from it all..i have seen what it can do..and i want no part of it..

Yeah, had a friend who abused alcohol. Luckily he has been doing better since he got help

Sure I've known people who abuse alcohol and drugs and sex. It's useless to try and help them because they can't help themselves.

They have to see the light and do it themselves because there's no way else to stop them.  What a pity.

A friend of mine was into heroin back in the mid 90's he gave himself a hot dose less than a decade later. America's  drug epidemic isn't new and he was from a good family lived in a nice house(bit cold temp wise) but I saw no reason why he should have been doing that. Shame his family had to find him like that. Shame he didn't want help  " It's my life".

I know one that is not a friend anymore due to abuse and one current one which is still a friend but ........ Yeah you know like that right now and its really messing with other people around him, Wanna help him but he refuse help and laughs it off.

I have a best friend who’s husband was an alcoholic for years, he would go into rehab come out sober for a few months and it would start again.  Sadly he finally died, he was drunk, missed the top step and fell down the basement steps and broke his neck.  I have a niece who is into sex, most anyone anytime.  That breaks our heart watching her, but no matter what we say or do, she comes back with “shut up, I’m 24 can do what the fxxk I want”. I know she will probably end up killed or getting AIDS but we still worry and love her.

Fortunately I have not know of any of my friends becoming self destructive.  Suicide is a sin and I pray that none of my friends ever consider it.

There is so much to say on this.  I did my time in a bottle.  And am clean for 8 years.  I only drank but see what opioids do when I go to meetings.  It took 20 years to get to where it was affecting my life.  Opioid users get to that point in days.  Anyone who prescribes Opioids and know their patient is abusing it should have there money taken away to put into rehab facilities.  It takes years to get them off of them.

I have a brother and sister in law that are alcoholics.  It really is a shame because both are talented people.  My brother is great with small engines and could probably have his own business.  My sister in law is a talented artist.  Sad to see that talent wasted.

Most of the kids I went to school with wound up on drugs and destroyed their lives. A lot of the people who I knew after I was out did the same and now I know someone who self destructs in other ways. It just seems like they are the only people who I have ever been around.

I do not personally know of anyone, but I see people on the street asking for money and they look so sad.

    I knew a woman that did that(used the money to buy cigarettes and wasn't in good shape because of smoking for years.Saw her late in the summer 2017 and an ambulance was taking her away because she was having breathing issues. The paramedics knew her and her son by first names,so it's obvious she's a frequent guest of  hospitals in my area.Last I saw her she was in a wheelchair outside of a Quik Chek doing the same bs begging for cigarette money.  I have no sympathy for her or her type.

I guess myself, I smoke and drink.  push the limits of abuse at times I guess.  But I am ok with it.

I do and I am happy to say they no long use drugs with the help of the Lord.  Now I just need them to quit smoking cigarette  in the name of the Lord, QUIT!
