For the love of yard sales
« on: December 28, 2017, 08:22:25 pm »
There are folks that love to go to yard sales just to see what they can find and there are those that can make a living from buying low and reselling a little higher for a nice profit.  Are there any of you skilled in yard sale shopping and reselling for profit. share your experience please.

I have this fantasy that I am going to find one of the few remaining Edgar Allen Poe daguerreotypes.

But nothing like that ever happens, at least, not to me.

Not really a garage sale person though I do like checking out local consignment and thrift stores.

I'm a fool for a good yard/garage sale or flea market! I love to pick through stuff and try to find treasure. Of course, the yard/garage sale has to be in pretty good order. I'll drive right by one if it looks all haphazard. I don't resell the stuff I buy, though. It usually ends up used somewhere in my house or, worst case scenario, stuffed in a closet that's already full of stuff! :-[

I like going to Goodwill stores in richer areas because people donate nicer things.
I found a real leather (Prada) purse that looked brand new! I only paid $5.99 for it. I could have turned around and sold it but I liked the purse so much I kept it for myself.  I'm not sure I would want to go through the hassle of going to garage sales and selling stuff online though.

I know a woman who actually has plenty of money but she and her husband go to yard sales and she gets stuff to resale on ebay.

You never know what you may find at an Estate Sale.  Old people that kept stuff forever and the family just sells it all cheap to get rid of it because they don't want it and don't want to move it.

I use to stop at yard sales but don't any more. I don't like thrift stores either. I have noticed lately, they get all the stuff the sale for FREE, and they charge Walmart prices for used clothes. Our local Goodwill has had tennis shoes out there that were so disgusting and gross I could not believe they would put them on a shelf and ask money for them. I also cannot believe somebody would donate something that horrible.
