Real or artificial tree?
« on: December 04, 2017, 04:02:29 pm »
Do you put up a real or artificial tree.  We always put up a real tree but as my girls grew up and left home we now put up an artficial tree.  We always went with the girls when they were small  and picked out the tree then my husband cut the tree and the girls helped decorate it.

I like real trees because of the scent.

We have always been artificial tree people. Real trees ARE nice, but we prefer to have a prelit artificial tree just for the convenience. I don't usually do much of the decorating myself. I would gladly switch to a real tree if my wife wanted one, but I think she prefers the convenience of the pre-lit artificial as well - so my philosophy is "Happy wife... happy life"

I like them both the good thing about the artificial tree you don't have to drag it out side to threw it away.

I don't put up a tree but when I was a kid we had an artificial tree.  My mother told me once they had a real tree ( I was really small and don't remember).  She said after that they got an artificial one because she was tired of picking up needles months later.

We used to always have a real tree when the kids were little.  Then, one Christmas, my second oldest daughter was sick the whole month.  She has allergies so I was trying to figure out what was different.  She did go somewhere different, was there mold, did I change soaps or detergents, etc, etc.  Then Christmas was over and we took the tree out and she was fine.  We had moved to another state, just 2 1/2 hrs away but, apparently, it was enough, that she was allergic to the tree.  She had never been allergic to the trees in the past.  So, that year I got a fake tree on sale after Christmas.

Yes going out with kids to buy and cut a tree is a really fun thing to do but I agree when the kids leave the house it is just too much work to continue doing. The artificial ones are so realistic and gorgeous now, it is really easy to get used to them too.

I would prefer an artificial tree. It can be used multiple times.

I have mostly had artificial trees.  I had one that was 9 1/2 feet tall and very full.  It also rotated so you could see the decorations on every side. I have had the same one for 25 years and had to let it go last year.  So far I have not been able  to find one like it.  It was gorgeous.   I also always get a wreath of boughs from the tree lot to have the smell.  I can put it up as early and take it down as late as I want with no worries about it drying out or loosing needles.
