mobile banking
« on: November 28, 2017, 09:44:33 am »
Some banks now offer mobile apps where you can deposit checks and stuff on your phone. For convenience it would be great but I kind of don't trust it. I feel like it would be too easy for someone to steal my phone and I don't want all my banking stuff right there on it. Do you do mobile banking?

I haven't jumped into mobile banking, yet, either.  But I've seen my daughter hand her phone to a cashier to pay her bill and have no idea how it works.  I would like to learn more about it.  I will be a little nervous about using it, myself, but I figure if everybody else is using it, the powers that be have figured out how to make it relatively safe.

I still haven't done mobile banking though depositing a check with my phone is a tempting thought.

I have an app from my bank on my phone. It's handy to check on my balance and to transfer money around. I haven't used the check picture thing because, well, I don't get checks.

I do use it and i have to say that am glad that i have the luxury/ advantage of deposit, transfer, pay bills and check balance anytime without going to the back or keeping track. I also had the same issues/ worry about online hacks/ theft of my phone, but am more comfortable due to security features on smart phones and online banking.

I've tried depositing checks through mobile banking.  It took me a while to get it to work.  The check was a rebate check that came in the mail - so it had edges that you're suppose to tear off.  I tried taking a photo of it with the edges on and it would not work, the app would only accept the check once I tear off all the edges.  So something that'd take people 1 minute took me 15 minutes to complete because I kept trying, even took the check to different rooms to try different lightings lol.

My son does it but I don't feel comfortable doing that. I think I will just continue doing things the way I feel is best for me.

I have not tried online banking because like some of you it seems too easy for someone to get and use my info in the wrong way.

I don't trust mobile banking.  With websites being hacked into and phones easily lost or hacked into themselves it is too easy to steal someone's identity and money.

Yeah, I'm with you, I don't quite trust mobile banking yet for the same reason: I don't trust that I might lose my phone and someone else would have access to my banking info. But I'm guessing in time that will be how most people do their banking. Maybe some day I'll trust it enough to do it myself.

Mobile anything rocks my world! I love to collect bank accounts and mobile venues were paying decent bonuses just for opening an account. I have set up my stock purchase accounts, peer to peer lending accounts, forex trading accounts, brick and mortar banking accounts and several point to click/search/survey accounts on my phone. What I really love is that the large percentage of them allow me access with fingerprint recognition without having to try and remember usernames/passwords or go to my thumb drive to determine access codes. Mobile access to the library is yet another delight found on my phone although I have not explored how to access the financial periodicals yet. My phone pretty much pays for itself every two to three weeks. Kind of funny that I make two phone calls a week! I usually text or e-mail everyone. Yet another mobile blessing!
