It is kind of sad, there's no filter of what can show up on you feed. You can block people and filter out what some people post, but not on the actual content. I'm sorry you had to view that. Perhaps you should write Facebook and speak your peace.

I don't like that type of thing on facebook either but you can always block it so you don't have to see it

I used to be on facebook.
I closed my account.
I was playing a few games: scrabble, farmville, yoville.
then, farmville and yoville weren't working right.
even the scrabble game changed.
just because it's popular doesn't mean it's the greatest.
I don't like monopolies.
I think the little guy deserves a chance in business.

I'm on FB and have found that if I utilize for nothing more than communicating with friends and family it's the easiest way to reach out.  It is sad to see how FB has become a place of destruction - like all things in the world today when used .... use it with caution and protection.  There is a reason they've put age restrictions on the social site - I feel as though parents have chosen to ignore those recommendations that of which are just opening more and more problems and earlier ages.

Hate is a strong word, but saying what happened to that baby elephant is wrong and disgusting, those people who did that will have a higher price to pay, God has the last and final word, you just don't treat helpless and innocent people or animals like that. As far as Facebook goes, I only get on there for surveys purposes only, other than that I don't. I haven't been socially on there for almost 15 yrs.

I hate FB too.  Almost every day I consider just cancelling mine but it is the only way I stay in touch with some of my in-laws.  I have unfriended a couple of people due to problem posts and boy has it caused an uproar.  I don't care because I don't tell anyone else what to do with their FB and I am not going to have anyone telling me.  so there is my FB rant for the day LOL

There are a lot of negative things about facebook.  I understand some people wish there was a way to censor what you see...wait a minute you do!!!  By controlling your friends you control this, and if you dislike facebook then you don't have to go on there.

Yeah, you can control your friends, but you can't control what they post or like. You also have no control over the ads that are posted. It all shows up on your feed regardless.

I closed my account on Facebook over 5 years ago  & have been happier ever since.
Tired of all the drama, tired of having to check it, tired of reading posts by people who are trying to pretend they are something they are not, tired of Facebook collecting my data, not only on the site, but for up to 30 days in the web browser you were using. Tired of Facebook data mining in my personal messages & then showing me ads they think I might like due to personal conversation.
Good riddance Facebook... none of my kids even use it any longer, it's old school to them.  lol

I do Instagram, because I like to see pictures & quick captions while I'm standing in lines or waiting, or whatever.  No drama.

I have been doing Twitter... what a hateful world it is on there, so much hate.  BUT they do post unedited news/ people do live periscopes so one can form their own opinions with the press editing it
down to what opinion they want you to have, fitting their narrative.

That's my social media rundown.

Some site? Why was "some site" posting pictures in your feed?  Is it a site you follow?  You can click on the upper right hand corner and report it.  If it was an ad you can also block that particular site it was from.  I would not want to see that either.

There actually is.  You can block certain types of ads.  I don't remember how but I have my stuff set really strict.  You can't control what your friends post on their page which will show in your feed if you follow them.  You can unfollow them and remain friends.

The age restrictions don't mean any thing.  Any one can make a page.  I know 7 year olds that have pages.  I don't look at it very often.  I mostly use it to have messenger because it is an easy way to communicate and you don't have to give people your phone number.  It mostly gets on my nerves.  All it is - is people either bragging about what they have, complaining about someone and jumping to conclusions and getting a ton of people to join in on the band wagon of bullying, or making fun of people, or what ever.

It's like the "people of Walmart" pictures.  I don't look at those.  I refuse to join in the making fun of others.  I am sure I have run to Walmart when I was not dressed the best and was dirty from working.  Doesn't mean I should be made fun of by the entire world.

I remember you talking about that.  It IS your page.  To share and express YOUR opinions.  No one is forced to agree with you.  But no one has a right to attack you for sharing a pic that expresses a different view that you have.  Well with in reason.  Like the pic the OP said he saw I can see people being upset about seeing it.  But maybe they were just sharing a news story and expressing outrage at what had happened.  You also have to make sure it is a true story and not a fake news story.  If you are good with pictures you can make one look like any thing.  I made two involving a friend.  One he is sitting in a field with a bear behind him. lol  That blew his mind.  And the other is a dragon coming up out of the water from a river that he sent the pic of the water.  That also confused him.  They were both good and very realistic. haha
