Death by second hand smoke!
« on: October 30, 2017, 05:44:29 pm »
My aunt died from lung cancer, yet she never smoke a day in her life! In the late 70's early 80's she worked at this huge factory & every time she clocked to work, she's met by smoke in the air from the previous shift & also had to endure the smoking habits of her coworkers during her own shift! Back then doctors couldn't understand how she got lung cancer because she wasn't a smoker. Doctors even accused her of lying about not being a smoker! She denied it till the day she died. This was back then when everyone still believed smoking was harmless, you couldn't sue the company for killing you due to having to work in a unsafe environment. Today, there's restricted areas in the US & other countries for smokers to smoke at & still other countries with no restrictions at all! I wonder even dead can she receive compensation for her still living relatives? It's so unfair that you have to die due to someone else's deadly habit!

I’m so sorry your aunt died of lung cancer.  Back in the 70’s, 60’s, and before smoking was allowed almost everyplace.  Turn on the tv and you saw most of the stars smoking, most commercials were about smoking.  You could smoke in all restaurants, planes, and even hospitals.  They didn’t realize about second hand smoke back then.  I’m sure many people sadly died from lung cancer and never smoked a day.  At least we now know what smoking and second hand smoke can do.  Again, I honestly am so sorry about your aunt.

Sorry for your feeling of sorrow. I wish you peace. I had a mom/friends/me that smoked all the time. It is pure luck that I don't have the lung cancer too. We must learn how to help with the healing of the lungs because our lungs do heal. :cat:

I am not dis-agreeing with the severity of 2nd hand smoke from others smoking.....but i think we have a much more severe situation with man polluting this planet.

How many diseases has this caused?

That's so terrible.  :( She died of something that could have easily been prevented. I wish smokers would be more considerate of non-smokers... It is a sad thing. I remember my mom used to smoke in the house all the time with me and my sister and all the animals. It stained the walls badly. I'm glad now she smokes outside, haha, but would prefer if she quit altogether. It's such a harmful habit, to more than just the person holding the cigarette.  :(
