I believe that I am the only one in the family on a budget. I spend about three dollars a month going out to eat, make my lunches, breakfasts and dinner every day and buy clothes once every two to three years. My boots have been worn for eight years. I do not have a car payment and am sitting with a ten dollar balance on one of my four credit cards. My children go to concerts whenever they like. My wife plays tennis at least three times per week and goes out for cocktails at least twice a week (she is out having a glass of wine right now). She went to see a financial counselor and the reality of what I spend on myself versus what she and the kids spend blew her mind. One month of her car payment including insurance is more than I spend for gas, insurance and repairs on my vehicle for an entire year.

I try to save more and buy things that I need. Sometimes I slip up. But for the most part, I am doing good with saving money.

We definitely also try to stick to a budget here, but not too strict of one. Important/necessary things paid for first (phone bill, food, etc.), then a little bit of some (relatively frugal) spending on nonessential items.

I've spent a lot more than I should have this year, but good time's won't change the way I've spent. I do save as well as much as I can!

Yes a budget has let me be able to buy a house, and have money leftover, and since then have had money saved to buy into my work.  Budgets are great!

I have a very tiny budget.

I monitor it carefully, and if I use my debit card I subtract it in my check book before I ever leave that store.

A mistake is very costly.

It is hard, but I use sales, coupons (which I buy super cheap online), and make my grocery and household choices with both in mind.

Only way.

I have no choice but to stay within a budget. if I want to surge on something it will take money away from the bills. money is really tight right now

I try to budget and spend only what I need. It was very hard to do so with my ex-husband, who would go on wild, reckless spending sprees. Did I mention I hate him? LOL. Money was the number one reason for our divorce. No regrets. I'm in a lot better shape on my own.

I try to have a budget but the hubby will blow it if I don't keep a handle on things.  I put quite a bit in savings each month but could be doing a lot better.

We try to have a budget here but never seems to work out here.  One good thing about hubby getting paid once a month is that we pay all the bills at once and then whatever is left is what we deal with, which usually isn't much lol
