     School bus during elementary school.
Walk and walk during secondary school years.
Two miles a day: One to school. One back home.

Sure did, with a load of books on my back. It was a very long walk, over a mile.

It actually affected a health problem I already had.

When I went to school you had to walk because we didn't have very many buses.  I remember walking to school in rain and snow and ice.

Never walked to school.  Too far, picked up by bus. The ugly yellow ones.

Showing my age, I walked to school by myself when I was in kindergarten. The school was probably a mile away and to this day I remember getting lost when it was really foggy one day.

Buses didn't pick up kids who lived in town so we all walked.  In elementary school (grades 1-3), I walked 2 blocks. I came home for lunch with my mom who worked 'next door" to the school.
In grades 4-6, it was another school for those grades, larger than the elementary building. I walked to school about 1/2 mile up a very steep hill.  This is where the two schools (north and south) merged into the larger East building.
In "high school," grades 7-12, I also walked a mile to school until my parents moved even further away from the school, then it was almost 2 miles a day to school. Getting my driver's license was the best thing that happened back then!!!

We used to always walk to school except when we lived in the country and had to ride the bus.  Back then, high schoolers actually drove the buses in our town!  How crazy was that???

My elementary school was only 1 1/2 blocks away, so we walked.  Jr high was 2 1/2 blocks away, so we walked there too.  By the time we got to high school we all drove back and forth about 5 miles away.
