the dinner table
« on: October 02, 2017, 06:08:18 am »
when I was growing up, my parents gave us assigned seats.
we had one chair that was built up higher with added cork stilts for the short one.
people get used to sitting in the same seat at a restaurant.
There are various reasons for picking a certain seat.
It might be for health reasons or just to enjoy the view.

Growing up with seven kids we could barely get the whole family at one table. I have fond memories of making my little sisters laugh when they were drinking milk.

There were 7 of us at a large table. While we didn't have assigned seats, it seemed we sat in the same seats all the time. I do find myself sitting in the same area in restaurants that do not have hostess seating lol Also, when I go to the store, I tend to park in the same area of the parking lot all the time. Maybe I am just a creature of habit lol

Same goes to being in church, you see the same person sitting in that exact spot they sat in the last Sunday.

We all sat in the same seats but I have no memory of it being "assigned".  It seems like we just tended to sit in the same seat.   Restaurants, we tend to like booths.   We don't like sitting in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by other tables.

That's a new one.  Although we had a big family, we took a seat where ever around the tables.

We had assigned seats too.  My parents were always at the head of the table and us girls were on the sides.  Funny even after we moved out we still always use the same seats.

Our family was small, so  we sat where ever we wanted as there was always space so no need to assign seats; however when we visited my Grandparents and they had all the grandchildren visiting at the same time, we did have assigned seats!
