pedometers
« on: September 29, 2017, 07:22:25 am »
I tried four different kinds.
none of them worked.
some people use their iphone.
there are several apps to choose from.
it's annoying when you buy something, try it and it doesn't work.

I used to by pedometers and no matter what, it giggled whenever I moved. So i do not use them. A friend told me that she has a Fitbit and they work great for her. I do not want to pay the price for this.  Anything that deals with health is pricey.

My husband and I use an app on our phone.  To me, it makes our daily walks more fun, and many days, I will not quit until I see that app telling me I've walked three miles!

I use the phone. I am not sure how accurate but it keeps me moving and looking to improve. I once went to an amusement park and took 30,000 steps.

I don't often bother with it but the phone tracks that somehow. I once bought a cheap little one you clip on your belt, but it counted practically anything I did including breathing as steps.

I have an UP wrist band that gives me my stats via phone, it works pretty well.

It's a model that is a couple years old now & can be picked up for around $30 now (on ebay)....   there is always a newer & expensive model, it's outdated almost as soon as you buy one.   Go for last years model... same thing. but cheaper :)

Years ago when Nintendo's Wii came out I brought their Wii Fit game and it came with a pedometer.  It was interesting to keep track of how much I've walked, it even keep tracked of height (climbing stairs, going up hills, etc).  Unfortunately it fell out of my pocket somewhere so I no longer have it.

The built in health tracker in some phones are actually pretty good.

I am thinking of purchasing a pedometer. With the amount of walking that I do every day, I am super interested in learning how many calories (and steps that I take) simply from walking. Not necessarily a fan of the phone apps that do the same function.

These are not very expensive to replace.  I have lost two of them over the past 6 years (and have since recovered both back again, after buying the new ones online through Amazon, LOL).
