Is this really the state of our youth/young adults?

Let em just say that I already know the answer to my heading/question and really just asked it rhetorically. Let me also say that I know this does not represent the entire generation of millennials...

That said, I was waiting in a line with my daughter one night for a rollercoaster at Cedar Point last week.  The line did not move at all for about 45 minutes. It was for ERT (extended ride time) exclusive for season pass holders after the park closed to the general public. Many people were pretty impatient with the delay, including three girls behind us who I guessed were about college aged.  They weren't disruptive impatient, just very whiny/entitled impatient and very vocal. You know the type -- where you are not trying to eavesdrop on their conversations, but you just cannot help it based on proximity and how loud they speak.

At one point, one of them got on her phone and asked a friend: "You know that movie, Titanic? What was the name of the boat they were on?" Then they all laughed hysterically when they found out that the boat in the movie was actually named Titanic.

The Titanic story is hilarious.  Listening to other's conversations in a long line can save you from insanity.

Many many many (can't say enough many's) youth open there mouths before thinking these days.  Most of the time they don't realize just how ignorant they sound.  I'm sure I was there at one time too.  The term dummied down makes more sense to me the older I get and run into situations similar to what you experienced.  My son is in high school... I tell him he's too classy for many kids his age.  He hates the ignorance that surrounds him.  He usually wears headphones...keeps to himself and only speaks to a select few.  I'm so glad I didn't have to grow up in this era.

I'm a millenial myself and let me just say this: every generation is flawed. There were tons of problems with the generation before mine too that people like to ignore, like much more sexism, racism, and homophobia. Again, I understand there's some terrible people in my generation but there's terrible people in EVERY generation. People need to stop making it act like they are so above us. There's a lot of amazing things about us that people like to overlook and I'm sick of it.

Yes in every generation there have been those who  really should not open their mouth, because they have no idea how bad they sound.  But right now with so much stuff going on with some of the  groups of people, they should  think before speaking and say some trouble. But guess that is what they want.  My mother taught us to not say anything to some of them or  we might get out face punched.

Those girls are just stupid or didn't pay attention in history class. The movie was based on Titanic and how it went down but Hollywood just put a few twist and turns on what really happened

So what was the point in saying they were whiny because the line did not move for 45 minutes?  I would have been aggravated about that too.  Not sure what that had to do with them not knowing the name of the boat in the movie was the Titanic.

As a millennial....I'm ashamed of the bad eggs that get 15 minutes of fame for being obnoxious. I'm also ashamed in how other generations let a small percentage of bad eggs dictate how the rest of us are seen as well. Ultimately, though, previous generations raised us...so who is ACTUALLY to blame or credit? Nature vs. Nurture. Some could have bee helped, some were helpless.
