Total Solar Eclipse 2017
« on: August 06, 2017, 08:23:09 pm »
On August 21, 2017, Monday, the sun will be completely blocked by the moon. This rare occurrence will appear for the first time in almost a century. From Earth, both the sun and moon will appear the same size. Daytime can appear like nighttime. Depending where you live across the country, where I reside, it is said we will see the moon obscure 62.3% of the sun blocked at its peak in the morning. When the day finally comes, I’m curious to see how the day goes and what the future holds. If nothing happens, it may just be another regular day.

I'm jealous that my nephew and 2 nieces have planned a trip to view the eclipse, I'm happy for them but still jealous.

Here in NJ we are supposed to be able to see it about 75% blocked but not until the afternoon. I am really looking forward to it - hope it doesn't rain that day!

Thank you for the heads up about the solar eclipse on 8/21 .. I googled what would it look like on the east coast of the USA in my area.  It says it will start to be visible at 1:21 pm and end by 4:01 pm with the most visible part of a partial eclipse at 2:44 pm ... I will definitely make it a point to see this.  It sounds pretty cool.

We're also in SC and getting ready for it.  Where we are it won't be a total but pretty close to it.  I've got my eclipse glasses (ordered them online).  We're considering a trip to Columbia or another place close by that will have a total eclipse.

We're too far north to get the complete eclipse, but we should be able to see a partial eclipse. This is exciting!
