Adjusting to Full-Time Schedule

I just started my new job today. This is the first time that I have worked full time in my life and it is more exhausting than I thought it would be. Any advice for adjusting to a full-time work schedule?

Just take it one day at a time...try different things out to figure out what works well for you...take a break and do something outside of work so you're not consumed by it....

I too recently was granted full-time from part-time.  And the extra hours were initially harder on me because I also work from home.  I've learned to take advantage of taking power naps.  I go out to my car when the weather is nice and lay my seat back.  Drink lots of water whenever possible.  I've even taken naps in the breakroom.  We have 2 couches and if there isn't a lot of commotion it's kinda cozy in there... If possible stick to a regular sleep schedule.  That is probably the biggest and most important piece of advice I've got.

Naps   I'd over sleep and get fired   It'll be easy to get used to if you like your job

I am a full time, working 5:00-1:30  five days a week. I sleep 7:30pm  so  can still get an 8 hours sleep. I drink vitamin D for extra strength also and don't have a night life so that I will not feel exhausted.

It's important to get on a regular waking/sleeping schedule and stick to it.

Congrats on your new job.  I am sure that if you take it day by day and make adjustments as you go along, sooner or later, you will get you timing and schedule synchronized

Short power naps when you can and if you get to stressed take a quick break, do something else then return to it.  A full time job is stressful if you aren't used to it, but if it's a job you really want or you work with people you really like, it's worth it.  Just think of the extra money you are making and it will get you through.

You've gotten some good advice on the forum so far.  I would like to add that you will get used to it.  I remember when I started working full time.  It took about 4-5 months before I felt I was getting used to it. In the meantime, keep to a routine/schedule.  Try to go to bed and get up at the same time, even on weekends.  Take naps.  Eat well. Even exercise a little bit. Being healthy and strong will help.  And yes, take a power nap when you get home.  Just make sure you don't sleep a long time then.  And try to pace yourself on your job.

Going full time is quite jarring. You realize you have less time at home now. Takes some time to get used to it.

Is this the first time you've had a full time job?  Get your mind set to working 8 hours per working day.  If you can't handle working 8 hours,  then you should find a job working part time.

Weird tip, but since it's applicable to me, I'll see if it helps anyone else out: Do you drink enough water? I find that when I become dehydrated, I become a lot more exhausted during the work day. But if I have even one 16.9 ounce bottle of Deer Park water, my energy levels are fine and I'm able to work at my max potential. Sounds kind of odd, but I've never been a big drinker and have also had issues with energy. I hate working full-time, but when you're as poor as I am, you do what you have to do.

That is quite an adjustment.  Go to bed early, so you can get enough rest.  Be diligent in how you manage your time.
